Will It Harm My Baby If I Have Abscess Teeth While Pregnant
Infection can spread: Disease of teeth and gums can affect health of a person in many ways, eg, difficulty eating, spreading infection, later chronic illness. If pregnant, a woman with dental disease should inform her OB and get dental care as soon as possible. The dentist and OB should share information before and after treatment, with patient's consent and involvement. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

8 weeks 5 days pregnant, very painful dental abscess, what shall I do and what are the risks to my baby? Are there any treatments with zero risk?
Risk: I do not know of any interventive treatment with no risks. In your situation obviously if you had treatment prior to conception that would have been ideal. I would suggest consulting with an endodontist for treatment but present to your obstetrician for a letter of clearance for treatment. Ideally interventive treatment is preferred after the first trimester and before the third trimester. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I'm 7 months pregnant and have had a dental fistula for about 4 weeks. Will treating/ not treating it harm my baby? Should i wait until after birth?
I am 24 weeks pregnant and recently found out I have a rotting tooth or a bad cavity will this harm my baby? No sign of abcess
Can tooth abcess cause premature labor? I have a tooth that needs a root canal but they won't do it until baby is born will it harm? I'm 28 weeks
Yes: But more info is needed... Why won't your dentist treat you? Because of your pregnancy? You are better off treating it now than taking the risk of infection and severe pain. Have your dentist refer you to an endodontic specialist and have him/her coordinate with your obgyn. Many times this can be completed in one visit. All the best.. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
12wks pregnant. Hot water runs rusty until mixed with cold water, then all is clear. If I showered and brushed teeth with rusty water multiple times before realizing, could this harm baby?
Unlikely harm: The only thing in tap water that has any significant potential to harm a developing fetus is a heavy metal like lead. Sounds like there may be a problem with the water heater rather than the water itself, but the way to know for sure is to have the water tested for lead and other heavy metals. You could get blood tests for heavy metals as well. Talk to your obstetrics provider about your concerns. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Hi.Im 7weeks pregnant and noticed an abscess by my tooth a few hours ago.I'm really scared for the baby.Should I go to the hospital or wait? Thanks
Why wait?: The abscess will not get better on its own. Pregnancy is not a contraindication for needed dental care. There is nothing your dentist will do during your treatment that will harm your baby. Failure to treat can result in bigger problems. Your dentist will consult with your OBGYN if needed. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Can sucking fingers harm a baby's teeth? Our two year old daughter sucks her middle two fingers all the time, and we're concerned that it might cause her teeth to come in crooked or incorrectly. Is this something we only need to worry about if she's still
@ 2, let them be: Kids need to pacify themselves. Sometimes an object, sometimes a finger or two or a thumb. If it is occurring at this age, leave them be. They psychologically need it. It will very likely subside as peer pressure enters into the equation. If after 5 it does not abate, small measures can be taken, but too early an intervention may have implications far beyond dental. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
