I have been having severe seb. Dermatitis and hair loss for two years. Will my hair grow back after treating seb dermatitis?

Generally yes.: Seborrheic dermatitis is an inflammatory condition that is thought to be due to a ubiquitous yeast called pityrosporum ovale. Flares of seb derm are typically associated with physical or emotional stresses, as do hair loss, which we call telogen effluvium. As long as there is no evidence of scarring (loss of follicles), your hairs will grow back once the stressor (s) are removed.

Hair Loss (Definition)

Hair loss, otherwise known as alopecia, can be caused by different reasons, including damage to the hair shaft or follicles or fungal infections. There are two main types of alopecia. Alopecia areata occurs when the body's immune system attacks hair follicles and causes hair to fall out. Androgenetic (or androgenic) alopecia, on the other hand, is an inherited form of hair loss. With alopecia areata, hair can fall out in patches all over the body. With androgenetic alopecia, hair on the head first thins and then falls out. In men, this is called male pattern hair loss; in women, it is called ...Read more

Fractured foot 3 mos. Ago and am now experiencing thinning hair. Is hair loss related to fracture. Also had a lot of stress. Will hair grow back?

Not usually: But stress, low thyroid, anemia, and several other things can cause thinning hair. Get a general checkup, ask for some tests and also be sure that you don't have osteoporosis as a cause for the fracture. Good luck!

Is there any vitamins I can take that can help my hair grow back from hair loss?

No: No vitamins have been proven to work on hair regrowth. You should make sure your diet provides you with necessary vitamins. Especially make sure zinc and biotin are bountiful in your diet. They seem to be the ones your hair relies on.

If I get hair loss as a side effect of taking Lithium, will my hair grow back if I stop taking it? I won't stop it without pdoc's permission of course

See a dermatologist: First you need to make an attempt to define the condition. Hair loss is not likely because of Lithium. There is probably another cause. How much hair loss? Where? How long? The longer you take Lithium the more likely you will have low thyroid which may result in hair loss but is easy to treat. You can begin to understand the condition only after you see an expert.

I had been on isotretinoin (twice) and always had severe hair loss and folliculitis. Will the hair grow back or is it permanent loss?

Normally reversible: Isotretinoin induced hair loss is normally reversible if you stop using the drug. However you should have a full evaluation because it is possible that you have hair loss for some other reason.

I"ve been on ativan (lorazepam) 2mg for 10 yrs. I am experiencing major hair loss. If I stop taking it, will my hair grow back or is the hair loss irreversible?

I"ve been on ativan (lorazepam) 2mg for 10 yrs. I am experiencing major hair loss. If I stop taking it, will my hair grow back or is the hair loss irreversible?

Ativan (lorazepam) & hair loss?: Hair loss has been associated with Ativan (lorazepam) use, but the frequency is unknown. I'd be wondering about additional possible causes in your case -- like ongoing anxiety & stress that may have made your doctor prescribe Ativan (lorazepam) in the first place? Have you resolved these issues? How about your diet? Are you getting necessary nutrients? Has your thyroid function been checked recently? See your doctor.

I was taking a medicine for a month that made my testosterone raise and I experienced hair loss so I quit taking it. Will my hair grow back?

I was taking a medicine for a month that made my testosterone raise and I experienced hair loss so I quit taking it. Will my hair grow back?

It should. . .: So let me get this straight. You're a 26yo female who was prescribed testosterone? Hair loss associated w/t is due to excess t being converted into Dht (dihydrotestosterone). Once that level drops back to normal, hair loss should resolve. Of course, hair loss might also be coincidental to another health stressor. Best to chat w/prescribing doc re medication side effects.

Telogen Effluvium: Telogen effluvium is a form of nonscarring alopecia characterized by diffuse hair shedding, often with an acute onset. A chronic form with a more insidious onset and a longer duration also exists. Telogen effluvium is a reactive process caused by a metabolic or hormonal stress or by medications or infections. Generally, recovery is spontaneous and occurs within 6 months or longer.

I was on depo-provera and noticed significant hair loss. I skipped getting the shot late nov. And it got worse. Will my hair grow back in time?

I was on depo-provera and noticed significant hair loss. I skipped getting the shot late nov. And it got worse. Will my hair grow back in time?

Should be seen: You should have testing for thyroid, iron-deficiency, or other causes of hair loss, but it is a side effect of Depo-Provera provera (medroxyprogesterone). It is a difficult problem to 'fix', takes a lot of time, and not a lot of helpful, effective interventions/treatments available. A dermatologist can help.

I experienced hair loss from a diet pill that had testosterone. I stopped taking it once my t level is back to normal will my hair grow back?

Yes: As we get older, both men and women experience some hair loss. It is a normal part of the aging process. Androgentic alopecia often runs in families and affects some people more than others. In men it is often referred to as male pattern baldness. It is characterized by a receding hair line and baldness. Once you stop the testosterone you will know.

If I have hair loss on my right leg due to insufficiency and have the saphenous veins stripped (insurance reasons) will the hair grow back?

Depends on follicles: If the actual hair follicle has died off, no. If the circulation is not adequate enough, then it will be also hard for the hair to grow back.

I've been taking singulair (montelukast) for two months now. M I recall I noticing hair loss within 2 wks. Scalp felt like tight ponytail. Will my hair grow back?

It should..: Use of singulair (montelukast) is not known to cause hair loss, but significant illnes can. Other meds can cause hair loss as well. Generally, the hair will grow back. Just make sure you have your scalp checked out because ring-worm on scalp can cause hair loss which will not grow back untill it is treated. Cnsult doc. Good luck.
