Help my itching hands recently, (in past wk.) I have developed severly itchy hands. The area that itches is between the thumb and first finger, in the web area, and in the meat of the thumb on the palm side. I have tried soaking them in epsom salt, hydro.
You : You may be dealing with a fungal infection. Try an over the counter anti-fungal cream like clotrimazole; you can apply the cream twice a day for a week. If you do not notice an improvement then it may just be a dermatitis and you may need a stronger steroid cream. I had fistula repair surgery a week ago. Wound was left open to heal, no stitches. Are sitz baths with epsom salt advantageous, promote healing?
Won't help or hurt: Since you are a male who had fistula surgery, I am assuming it was an anal fistula. Using epsom salts in addition to soaking in a warm bathtub has not been proven to help or harm healing. Just getting into the tub for 10 minutes or more at least 3x/day helps relieve pain, keep the area clean, and promote healing. Try vaseline gauze: Applied after a cool soak to be sure all of the Epsom Salts are washed away. Epsom Salts (Magnesium sulfate) should always be dissolved thoroughly before bathing in it. If you have any skin wounds they would be irritated by the salt. Apply vaseline to any such areas before the bath.
