Gravity: The goose egg was a hematoma. A hematoma is bleeding under the skin that clots and forms a mass. The body then breaks up this clot and some of it "leaks" and appears to spread to a different area. In most cases, the spreading is below the original injury which is simply due to gravity. ...Read more

2yr old with bruise/egg bump middle forehead from fall. No passing out, vomiting etc & seems fine. Should I worry? How long to go away? Thanks.
Likely no worries: Keep checking for new symptoms, there is likely a blood collection under the skin, the forehead is pretty strong, if your child is happy, playful, eating, sleeping well, there is nothing to worry about. This can take up to 2 weeks to go away. Applying ice within the first few minutes after the fall can lessen the size of the bump. If more than 5 minutes has passed ice will not work. ...Read more
Hi I have a recurring issue where painful boil like lumps appear all over the base of my skull and also notice my lymph nodes flare up and an egg bump causing severe headaches tender & warm to touch?
Possibly: The kid who is not knocked out or disoriented & confused @ the time of the injury is probably fine. I try to keep them on their normal nap/sleep schedule and visit them with a flashlight while sleeping to check. If sleeping well, leave him alone. Kids will start barfing if problem is coming. Confusion or repeated episodes of vomiting in the hours after trauma deserve a look over by the dr. ...Read more

What's a goose egg?: I love how people describe things!, so my guess is that you're "goose egg" is likely a collection of old blood from a blow/injury to skin which lies just above a bone. The "goose eye" is defined by the underlying tissue and how it encapsulated the blood. Location is rarely important. Either "tincture of time"... Alot of time... Or drainage with a needle or small incision is necessary. ...Read more

My 13 month old bumped his head today trying to walk. He is 30 inches tall and got a little goose egg. Is there anything to worry about?
Likely not but: It depends on where the bump is and whether he had any other signs of concern for a closed head injury with possible brain injury (too much to talk about here). If the bump is on the front/forehead - no worries. If over the temple area - more possible concern. Talk to your doctor. ...Read more
Any way to make my nose back to its normal size I crashed into a pole and got a goose egg the goose egg swelled down but my nose got fatter
If your nose looks different despite improvement of your swelling you may have a nasal fracture. This may need to be fixed with surgical fracture reduction (if the injury was within the last 10 days or so) to reset the bones in the proper position. More formal reconstructive rhinoplasty may be needed if the bones have already set in place, though.
You can visit with a facial plastic surgeon or otolaryngologist (ENT) to have your nose checked out to see what treatment you may need. ...Read more
How long after my seven year old daughter hit her head hard enough to cause a goose egg can she go to sleep?
Depends on variables: Did she pass out or express confusion after the injury? Has she started vomiting repeatedly? If either I would have her seen. If neither, let her sleep on her normal schedule. Do not wake her but check her every few hours for change of status. Kids awaken to vomit and complain of headache if problems occur. ...Read more

Small like pea size?: Lymph nodes are located throughout the body ; generally noticeable in exposed areas like the back of the head & neck. They are usually pea sized at rest and enlarged when stimulated by bug bites, dermatitis, drainage or infection. If it is not tender there is no urgency on evaluating it but I would bring it up at your next visit. ...Read more
