Can I take 50mg of hydroxyzine with doxylamine safely? My doctor recommended doxylamine for nausea but I took hydroxyzine for anxiety already.
Try it and see!: One half tablet of doxylamine can be taken along with vitamin b6 (pyridoxine) three times daily for nausea of pregnancy. More options:: A simple way to v nausea is w ginger. You can drink slightly flattened ginger ale or nibble on crystallized ginger. Or pour boiling water over freshly sliced organic ginger ; steep at least 5 min in a covered pot. Sip. Yes: The FDA approved, label dosages for insomnia are from 25-50 mg nightly. We use this medication off-label routinely to treat morning sickness in pregnant women at higher doses than this. Unisom: is not considered to be addictive in that there are no withdrawal side effects. Its use over a long period of time is not recommended as it has anticholinergic side effects that can interfere with memory, attention and ability to deal with outside stimuli. For what?: Doxylamine (unisom) is an anti-histamine which causes sedation. Ambien (zolpidem) is a sedative-hypnotic. I'd guess the question i'd ask is why do you need either? Perhaps get a referral to a sleep specialist so he/she can get a good history and perhaps find a solution as to why you feel you need any medication at all to help with sleep. Do you need to?: That's a better question, and the follow up is why do you need it? The drug itself is similar to Benadryl (diphenhydramine) with similar side effects. It's never wise to take sleeping aids for long term without looking for an underlying cause for the sleep problem. No: Once you take Doxylamine, you should be able to fall asleep within 30 min. But, once you take the medicine, don't start or get involved in any physical activity.
