How risky is attempting pregnancy at the age of 40, mild lupus, antiphospholipid antibody syndrome currently taking coumadin?
Risks are low!: I do not see major risks in becoming pregnant, that is if you get pregnant. You will be switched to heparin, probably once daily lovenox. But your lupus can be managed successfully during pregnancy, and the hughes syndrome should be a non-issue if on an anticoagulant. Hope you achieve your goal! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My thrombosis specialist is having me switch from warfarin to lmwh as soon as i get a positive pregnancy test. At 4 weeks, is this ok?
Yes!: Warfarin is not good to take during pregnancy as it can cause birthdefects, lmwh does not have this problem and can be safely used during pregnancy. I would strongly suggest that you seek an opinion from an OB or highrisk pregnancy doctor to be sure you are doing all that they would recommend to have a healthy pregnancy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is there any use of warfarin during pregnancy other than having a mechanical heart valve for a pregnant patient?
I got a pulmonary embolism after my pregnancy, and im on warfarin right now. Is it ok and safe to go on rollercoasters?
Basically - Yes: Patients with a recent DVT (or pe) who are on anticoagulant treatment are at low risk of further clots. If taking coumadin, inr must be at goal (2-3). Coumadin increases risk of bleeding so contact sports are often discouraged. Roller coasters are probably not in the same category as full contact football but you certainly can get knocked around a bit. The risk would be bruising though - not pe. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What vegetables do you suggest that i eat or don't eat that will not affect the Coumadin while im taking it?
The problem: The problem is not so much what vegetables to avoid, but in being consistent with your intake. Vegetables and their nutrients are very important for your overall health. I agree with my colleagues that large amounts of vit k can interfere with coumadin's anti-thrombotic effect, but your Coumadin dose can be adjusted to your diet. Whole foods are much safer than vit k supplements in this regard. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I accidentally took my Coumadin pill 15 hours apart instead of 24 hours. What should I do and does it affect me in a negative way?
Is their any serious side affect when ur Coumadin level is a bit high. I'm supposed to be from 2.0 to 3.0 and right now i'm 3.6?
Yes: Coumadin is a drug which inhibits the ability of your blood to clot properly. If the inr gets above therapeutic ranges it increases the chances that you may have spontaneous bleeding. This should be explained to you carefully by the doctor who prescribed this. Go and see them asap. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
