I was wounding if higher testosterone levels in women cause acne? If so what can I do to lower my testosterone and increase my estrogen levels?

Yes and no: High testosterone levels can certainly make acne worse. However, if tests show abnormally high levels of testosterone, you need to rule out cancer as a cause.

Most of the time, testosterone levels are within the normal range, but hormonal therapy may still be appropriate. Certain oral contraceptives can reduce the production of testosterone and reduce its effects. ...Read more

I am a 45 year old female that is experiencing severe cystic acne on my chin with acne on my forehead. Labs show low testosterone with normal estrogen and progesterone. Will testosterone help or cause more acne.

Developed adult acne related to hormone replacement. Testosterone estrogen levels low. Use clindamycin 1% and not helping. What can I use?

Ideas: 1st of all-your hormone levels may not b checked accurately. Blood levels don't work for topicals. Sounds like u need hormones adjusted. If that doesn't help sometimes a course of antibiotics (doxycycline or Minocycline) can help treat acne. It really sounds like you are getting too much hormone. ...Read more

Do I have estrogen dominance? I have pcos, acne, high fsh, normal testosterone and slightly high androstenedione.

Do I have estrogen dominance? I have pcos, acne, high fsh, normal testosterone and slightly high androstenedione.

Unsure: First of all if you have a high fsh value that is not consistent with pcos. That would be more indicative of ovarian failure. So first you need to make sure you have the correct diagnosis. But in general with pcos most women have symptoms from male hormone dominance, but since ovulation does not occur regularly, the uterus has estrogen dominance. ...Read more

Would increasing the potency of my dose of spironolactone help rid me of chronic jaw line acne? I know the med is an androgen blocker...

Maybe: I trust you are also using a topical agent such as benzoyl peroxide, retinoic acid, or salicylic acid. Spironolactone is an excellent choice for acne in a female patient but it's potent stuff and it would be a mistake to increase the dose without your physician's okay. Topical clindamycin to the affected areas with the other topical agent might also be enough to clear you. ...Read more

Will smoking e cigarettes or vaping effect birth control pills especially ones with higher amounts of hormones and estrogen?

Will smoking e cigarettes or vaping effect birth control pills especially ones with higher amounts of hormones and estrogen?

Maybe: If the e cigs or vapor products contain nicotine then there are risks. Nicotine has known associations with the increase of side effects on OCPs especially if over 35 years old. Quitting smoking can be very hard - many don't realize the nicotine craving can be as hard to kick as a heroin addict. But - it's best not to mix the two.
