Will An Ultra Sound Always Show The Cyst If It Is Ruptured Or Can It Just Show Fluid
A cyst is a structure or mass that consists of a cellular lined sac. It is typically filled with fluid but may be filled with solid material. It can be congenital, traumatic, or acquired. They may develop nearly anywhere in the body and usually require complete excision for eradication or they are likely to recur. Fluid filled sacs that are not cellular lined ...Read more
When an ultrasound shows that a cyst has ruptured will that indicate that the cyst is not cancerous?
Not at all: It certainly depends on many things, including location of the cyst and its "pre-rupture" appearnce. Most cysts are benign. However, whether or not a cyst has ruptured has absolutely nothing to do with malignancy. Likely, a good conversation with the doctor who ordered the ultrasound exam for you should help clear things up. ...Read more

What happens if an ultrasound scan seems clear is it possible that a mammogram will still show a problem?
If a lump above the elbow shows by an ultrasound that it is not a cyst then what is it? What will an MRI be able to show?
If it is not: a cyst, then it is a solid mass. There are a variety of possibilities for a solid mass. MRI may be able to narrow down the possibilities, or make a specific diagnosis. For example, if the mass demonstrates fat signal characteristics, it is probably a benign lipoma. Ultrasound cannot provide this kind of soft tissue specificity. MRI also provides superior anatomic delineation. ...Read more
Is there a scan which will show everything that is wrong with you, and can even detect microfractures? If so, which scan is it?
Not exactly: Every test has advantages and disadvantages to it, based in part on what you are looking for. When looking for a small fracture in a specific area of the body, an MRI is usually the most sensitive. When looking at the whole body, a bone scan is best, but it is not very specific. Thank you for the question. ...Read more

Yes: Sometimes the cause of the blockage may not show up on the ultrasound. ...Read more
Yes: Ct resolution has gotten better and better, and a ct scan with IV contrast can usually identify even small ovarian cysts. But if the ovarian cyst ruptures, the ovary usually looks fairly normal on ct. If it was a small cyst that ruptured, the amount of fluid in the pelvis may overlap with normal physiologic fluid. Only if the cyst was large and/or bleeding would the ct likely be diagnostic. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What does having a cyst close to the baby's sac mean? It was like an open sac with no baby? The doctor said it would absorb. Should i be worried?
Awww...: Owl- i'm sure you're so worried about your unborn baby.A cyst is a fluid filled sac - benign unless proven otherwise...So unless the cyst is somehow impinging on your baby or your placenta - sounds ok. Of course, without seeing the images i can't really say...Maybe it was a "twin" that was not meant to be. Please don't be afraid to ask questions of your doctors. Best! ...Read more
Is it possible for an ultrasound that shows over 70% blockage to be wrong. When they did cath it was totally clear. Is it possible blockage moved?
Ultrasound of what: It is not clear from your question what was imaged. Ultrasound is very sensative to the person doing the study. The slightest pressure can "create" a stenosis or block. That is why a complimentary study is performed ...Read more
