Acupuncture (Definition)

Acupuncture is a treatment based on Chinese medicine -- a system of healing that dates back thousands of years. At the core of Chinese medicine is the notion that a type of life force, or energy, known as qi (pronounced "chee") flows through energy pathways (meridians) in the body. These acupuncture points are places where the energy pathway is close to the ...Read more

What's in the pills?: Please read the label on your digestive enzymes for their contents. Why does pcos cause acid reflux and other digestive issues?

Why does pcos cause acid reflux and other digestive issues?

It doesn't ...: Pcos itself shouldn't cause acid reflux or digestive issues. Metformin (glucophage) may be used for treatment of pcos and can cause nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. We try to reduce these side effects by using extended-release tablets, starting at a low dose (500 mg a day) and by increasing slowly over 3-4 weeks. Some can't tolerate metformin. Digestive issue. 6 hours after eating lots acid reflux, coughing, gad, and mucus. For 33 year old nonverbal autistic adult female. Local physicians.

Acid reflux: Sounds like your stomach empties slowly. I would advise consulting with a GI specialist. Avoid caffeine, sodas, acidic foods and overeating. An acid blocker may be helpful like Zantac (ranitidine) or Prevacid . You probably need an upper GI study or endoscopy if your symptoms do not improve. Make sure you write or type your concerns prior to your visit. Best of luck ! ...Read more
