Will A Colon Cleanse Laxative Get Rid Of Any Pinworms
Some: By virtue of the fact that a colon cleanse "washes" out the colon, some pinworms in the colon lumen will be washed out. But worms can adhere to and invade the colon wall, so this is not adequate treatment. You need an anti-helminthic drug (active against worms) to cure this infection. ...Read more

I took 4 super colon cleanse pills, which are high in fiber. I also took 4 caps of polyethylene glycol 3350 powder laxative. Did I do any damage?
Good & bad ways: I'M ALL FOR IT IF by "cleanse" you mean adopting a healthy lifestyle with routine exercise, cutting out tobacco, reducing alcohol & sugary drinks, minimizing highly processed foods & fats, & adding in lean proteins, whole fruits, vegetables, & nuts. DON'T DO IT IF instead you mean taking some fad diet, enema, colonic, or purgative to lose weight or supposedly rid your body of unspecified "toxins." ...Read more
If I had a parasitic worm hidden in folds of my colon could I do a colon cleanse to remove it or at least get it out of there so medicine can get it?
Not likely scenario: Parasitic worms uncommon in general in western countries without history of travel to underdeveloped countries, ingestion of raw/uncooked seafood (sushi) or undercooked pork etc. If your ova & parasite tests were negative on three samples & don't have risk factors listed unlikely you have a parasite. You list Mebendazole as a medication taking so have been treated. Bowel cleanse not likely benefit. ...Read more

Normal Colon Health: You cannot. And you should not. Most of these 'bugs' in your colon are in symbiosis with you and are the sources of some of the vital enzymes and vitamins your body uses to function in a healthy way. ...Read more
C. difficile: The answer depends upon your response to medications. There are strains of cl. Difficile that are resistant to medications used to treat this condition, and toxic megacolon may occur secondary to the severity of infection encountered prior to institution of therapy. It doesn't.: The idea of colon cleansing is based on a misunderstanding of anatomy & physiology. Your colon is actually outside of you. You actually surround a space through which foods pass & excrement is produced. The body takes care of its own cleansing if you have a proper diet & fluid intake. Colonic treatment is outlawed in certain states because in the wrong hands has led to bowel perforation & death. ...Read more
Yes and No: It can help release toxins, but please realize that your body naturally wants to get toxins out. When you have enough fiber in your diet, the toxins will bind and be eliminated. Make sure your liver has what it needs to detox appropriately. I do not believe colon cleanses are necessary. You can get bloating, cramping. Don't force a detox. Support the body and it will detox on its own! ...Read more
Not helpful: Cleansing of the colon is a common prescription by alternative medical practitioners for a variety of GI and other problems. No: That defeats the purpose. The colon cleanse is supposed to cleanse the colon. If you eat while on the cleanse, you're undoing what the cleanse is doing. You stop eating before starting the cleanse. You resume eating and drinking after the colon test or whatever other reason for the cleanse. ...Read more
What? Don't cleanse: Healthtap physicians have repeatedly addressed this subject with a clear "no" answer to your question. There is virtually no value to colon flushes, cleansers, enemas, irrigation machines when the technique is accomplished to "detox" or eliminate "accumulated waste" or for weight loss. There are few real health benefits, but sigificant unjustified risk. Don't use colonics please unless prescribed. ...Read more
