Is skin resurfacing always done with chemical peels? I want to have my skin resurfaced to help get rid of my acne scars and sun spots, but i feel like a chemical peel might be too harsh on my sensitive skin. Are there any other skin resurfacing options th

Chemical peels,: Laser resurfacing, and dermabrasion are all methods of removing a portion of the skin surface that stimulates healing, and development of collagen and elastic fibers (along with a new skin surface) that reduces (but does not remove) scars. If your skin is sensitive, the treatments designed to reduce acne scarring will need to be less severe (and will be less effective). Laser may be most precise. ...Read more

There : There are a few options when it comes to skin resurfacing for acne scar and pigmentation issues. Chemical peels and lasers are two options. Another option that works well for treating just portions of the face is dermabrasion. This produces more of a physical sanding of the skin. The idea with all 3 procedures is to remove the outer layer of skin cells. New skin then regrows into the area to create a smoother, more even pigmentation. ...Read more

Not always: Skin resurfacing is performed by a variety of techniques - chemical peels are only one option. Other options include dermabrasion and laser resurfacing (done with a variety of lasers depending upon degree of scarring ). Not effective: Chemical peels are temporary and thin the skin. You may need laser care to plump up the skin. Help please! is chemical peeling product or raser is good for get rid of acne scars?

Laser is better: Laser resurfacing is better to improve acne scarring. I recommend the fraxel laser. Four treatments are usually required, but the results will be significantly better that with chemical peeling. Have acne scars, underwent chemical peeling. Now, thinking to join gym. Is there any ill effects of gym (eg. sweat) to scars? Will my scars get deep?

Post chemical peel: It is important to know the type of peel, # days since the peel, and if was it a deep, medium, or superficial chemical peel. If peel was recent, sweat could irritate the skin. Use a towel or headband to reduce contact w/ sweat and wash face immediately after. With post peel complications: scarring is more common w/ deeper peels, and hyper-pigmentation is more common in dark skinned individuals. ...Read more

Would a chemical peel help my rosacea? I am fair-skinned and I have severe rosacea. I am very unhappy with the way my face looks, especially the redness and the pimples. Can a chemical peel be used to achieve a better facial skin look for people with rosa

The : The international rosacea foundation (and most other experts) strongly recommend against chemical peels in rosacea patients. The reasoning for this recommendation is that chemical peels tend to increase inflammation and modify the superficial vessels in your skin (both of which are already problematic in rosacea). While you may notice temporary improvement from such treatments, your rosacea will rebound, and in all likelihood it will be worse than before the peel. I've attached a link to a mayo clinic discussion about rosacea. I hope it helps! http://www.Mayoclinic.Com/health/rosacea/ds00308. ...Read more
