Hypertelorism is an increase in the distance between the bony orbits, in which the eyes lie. It can be due to a variety of causes and is measured by the interpupillary distance. Hhypertelorism is an anatomic condition associated with a heterogeneous group of congenital disorders, it is believed that the underlying mechanism of hypertelorism is also heterogeneous.
