More room: Certain shapes of the pelvic bones are more successful delivering babies than others. While we now can rely on c-sections for those hips that don't bear babies well, "wide hips" usually also mean good pelvic structure with plenty of space to carry and deliver a baby in the routine fashion. ...Read more

Clarification: Are you trying to achieve a small waist, wide hips, and big butt? I need clarification about your goals. Generally herbs will not change your body structure. Exercise and physical activity can optimize your muscle/fat ratio, increase strength and flexibility, and make you feel good about your body, no matter what the proportions are. I suggest you schedule a consultation to discuss your concerns. ...Read more
I've got wide hips but my right hip noticed more prominent and hurts when pressed. What could be that?
Need physical exam: To be sure of diagnosis. However, if you are speaking of the area on the outside of the upper thigh that many people call their hip, the greater trochanter area, you may have greater trochanteric bursitis which could benefit from a steroid injection and physical therapy w/ stretching. If not that area, would recommend physical exam and xrays to be sure. Hope that helps! ...Read more

Can SSRI's change body shape and fat distribution? I've always had a small waist and wide hips and I'm afraid to lose this by taking an SSRI regularly
No guarantee!: SSRIs are not taken irregularly (PRN). Many complain of weight gain, but it may or may not alter the proportions. Some don't have that problem but no one can be sure. Consider trying non-Rx therapy to see if that safer treatment may be enough. They can refer if needed. It will reduce need and optimize outcome. ...Read more
A woman's Body.: I consider it to be very woman-like. The reason - women's bodies were designed to have more fat than a man's. So having curves is normal. Second, women's bodies were designed for childbirth - wide hip bones help to fit the bill. What you describe are features that are feminine/ female. ...Read more

Our Bodies: Without seeing you it is only speculation that can be used to answer this question. First you may still have some growth. I am 23, testosterone=2.52 ng/ml, weak body, wide hips.194 mill/ml sperms, 35% progressive, 2-3 agglutinations/hpf. What could be my desease and fertility?
Difficult to know: Testosterone is low. Needs evaluation. Most common cause is metabolic syndrome with sleep apnea and stress reducing the t. In obesity, fat cells convert testosterone to estrogen and estrogen suppresses production of t. This is what we see most. Men do need normal hormone values but best to treat the underlying cause and not just replace. ...Read more

If you're hips are wide before pregnancy are they more likely to get wider during pregnancy or less likely to get wider during pregnancy?
Wide track for hips: A former car manufacturer, Pontiac, made several commercials featuring their "wide track" stance. The width of your bony pelvis and hips is presently a constant. However, pregnancy will allow the ligaments between the pelvic bone joints to be flexible enough to allow them to separate at delivery. Post partum those changes reverse, and if the hips get wider at that point, it is usually due to fat. ...Read more

One every 4 hours...: If you can get by on one every four hours and only if you need it, you would be better off. When it comes to opioids (narcotics), using the least you can to take the edge off the pain is best. Remember to drink plenty of water (enough to keep your urine clear) and to eat food with plenty of fiber to improve circulation, detoxify and help avoid opioid-induced constipation. Also may add a stool med. ...Read more
I have hip tightness and pain at times on the sides of my hips. I made a step that was a bit too wide and caused pain on the side of my hip. What is?
You may have a sprain or strain of one or more of the muscles in your hip after taking that big step. Physical therapy should help. The sharp pain on both sides sounds more like bursitis which is inflammation of the hip bursa and usually hurts when you lie on that side.
Consider a visit to a PM&R physician for best evaluation. ...Read more
