My widal was pos. my ALT is raised dr advised me ciproxin. Is this safe or not?

Does not add up: Widal test is an obsolete test for typhoid fever. It is very unlikely that you have typhoid fever, living in Pittsburgh. Cipro (ciprofloxacin) does not treat elevated ALT, you need to determine the cause of elevated ALT and treat that. If you drink alcohol, stay away from it entirely. ...Read more

What to do if i'm 58 years old man, before 25 days i was found with widal positive but after 25 days widal test is negative?

Ignore it: Widal is an outdated test for typhoid fever. Unless you traveled to a poor country with poor sanitation, you are unlikely to have typhoid fever. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more

I have been having mild body weekness which occur occasionally, done widal test recently which was positive. It started about 3 years.

Widal test: This antibody test is next to worthless, and perhaps more so because it causes people to look for infections that may not be present despite the test positivity. You need to be seen by a family practitioner or general internist and undergo a full evaluation without antibiotics. Good luck. ...Read more

What do you suggest if my widal was pos. my ALT is raised dr advised me ciproxin. is it ok or not?

How do you FEEL?: Don't take an antibiotic unless you clearly have an infection that's serious enough to warrant it. The Widal is famously nonspecific, and is far from strong evidence that you have active typhoid / brucellosis. I may well have misunderstood your question. ...Read more

Exposure: These are fairly low levels of antibodies. It means that you have been exposed in the past, but probably not an acute infection. Repeating the tests would be helpful in a week or two. If levels stable-then old infection. If levels rising-then new infection. ...Read more

My widal test show typhoid and my Mp ++, 80/140 BP. Shall i worred? Advice ple Dr

Widal test: This is a very outmoded and inaccurate test and should not be done. If you are really concerned about typhoid fever you should see a doctor familiar with it. Your blood pressure 140/80 mmHg is probably quite normal. Do not know what Mp++ is. Ask the doctor who ordered this or get another opinion. ...Read more

See a doctor: This condition may be what is called FUO (fever of undetermined origin). My widal test report is s.to 1:320 s.th 1:160 ah1:80 bh1:40 I am taking medicine: antibiotic mycin 500. What will this do?

Unclear question: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. The information you provided does not seem to add up and hence it is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex. ...Read more
