Urinalysis negative but culture positive for e.Coli (100, 000 cfu ml) w/cath draw. Blood culture negative. Fever of 104. Why was urinalysis negative?
Urinalysis: Sounds like you may have had upper urinary tract infection without spillage of inflammatory cells into the renal calyx, so that although the bacteria showed up the inflammatory cells did not. The other alternative is that this was somehow a contaminated specimen and the e. Coli were not from the urinary tract. ...Read more
Had urine test, some results urine occult blood negative trace Urine protein screen negative, trace mg\dl negative. is this normal reading with trace ?
Normal: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is in the best position to do that. Having said that, the results you provided are normal. ...Read more
On urine test results, urine hemoglobin=trace-intact, urine microscopic = indicated, wbc/hpf=0-3, rbc/hpf=0-3. What do these results & terms mean?
Normal: The WBC and rbc are referring to the number of white blood cells and red blood cells seen in a range of microscopic fields of sampled by the lab technician. The number of these cells (0 to 3) for both types of cell is within the normal limits expected. These normal, scattered red cells are enough to cause a trace of hemoglobin on the chemistry test. So these are all normal results. ...Read more

My doctor ordered a urine cytology test due to hematuria. He ordered it done on 24 hr urine sample. Lab says not 24hr test. Who's right?
Hiv expo 59 days, 23 day rna+combo test neg, gave blood for more test inclu HIV genotype. From urine test - abnormal protein.
1) why my doc asked geno test with neg result
2 abno protein means? Help
More info needed: Your HIV test results are nearly conclusive you don't have it. Otherwise, I can't help much. Ask your doctor directly. I don't understand requesting HIV genotype except in someone with confirmed infection; the test can't even be done unless RNA or DNA positive for HIV. Maybe you misunderstood? There are many causes of "abnormal" urine protein and HIV isn't one of them as far as I know. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Pregnant w/ wbc’s in urine (11-20 w/ ref range of 0-5/hpf), leukocytes +2. Urine culture showed no growth. Dr’s office dipstick showed blood. Reason?
Cannot diagnose: Blood in the urine can suggest infection, tumor or stones or a problem with the filtration mechanisms in the kidney. My advice would be to see a kidney specialist and have this fully evaluated. The fact that the urine culture was negative does not exclude infection. Have you ever been exposed to tb? Please see someone soon and best of luck. ...Read more
blood test IGG 17.95 positive and IGM 8.50 negative. stool test was negative. do I infect with h.pylori?
Past infection: These results suggest past infection with H. pylori. The blood test can remain positive for years after past infection even if you were treated. The stool test and urea breath test can better detect current infection. The gold standard for testing is a biopsy during endoscopy. https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/007501.htm ...Read more
