Why Would A Steroid Shot Cause You To Bloat
I got a Pneumococcal shot. Can you be allergic to this medicine? What makes you allergic? Also how quickly would a reaction happen?
Possible: In general, it is possible to be allergic to any medicine. Allergic reactions can occur minutes two days after you're exposed to the offending agent. ...Read more
It can: As it can cause your blood sugars to rise and this can cause you to urinate more frequently. It's more likely to happen on those who are diabetes and prolonged steroid use. It can also cause these symptoms if it leads to a complicating urinary tract infection. If you find this particularly bothersome, you should review this with your doctor. Best of luck. ...Read more
I couldn't get my second MMR shot due to a severe allergic reaction to it. What ingredient would cause this? Not allergic to any others. Will I be ok?
?Neomycin, hopefully: Like all vaccines, the MMR vaccine has many ingredients one could react to, but the most likely is neomycin, which is known to cause severe allergic reactions. See list of the ingredients in my comment. Also see http://bit.ly/16RdeGh for a general discussion about vaccine safety and hazards. Hard to know if you'll be OK without more details of your reaction, but it's OK to not get more MMR. ...Read more
Are you suppose to have a cortisone shot if you have a bulging or herniated disc? When does a doctor preform a meg what would be the reason
SUPPOSED to have? No: In my opinion, cortisone shots offer limited relief to most people & the procedure often has to be repeated more than what is advertised due wearing off effects. Having said that, some people relate a lot of benefit & they're willing to live with the downsides. But just remember that the root cause of the pain is not being treated therefore, at some point you will always come back to square 1. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Will epipin cause bad harm if you inject it thinking you had a allergic reaction to allergy shot when you really didn't have a reaction?
Why would your doctor give you a shot of celestone/lidocaine as a diagnose to determine if you need a knee replacement ?
Pain relief response: The amount of pain relief in response to a therapeutic cortisone injection can help predict the pain relief with surgery, i.e. Knee replacement. If no pain relief at all, then unlikely that surgery would be beneficial in resolving the pain. If good resolution of pain, but only temporary, then good prognostic sign that surgery will provide longer lasting pain relief. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Question unclear: Toradol is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pain reliever.Taking a 'water pill' would likely have no effect on an allergic reaction.Anti-histamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may help-but if the allergy is 'severe' you risk anaphylaxis w/asphyxiation or a Stevens-Johnson type reaction, among others.Seek medical attention IMMEDIATELY if you have taken Toradol & are swelling, having difficulty breathing, etc. ...Read more

Depends on extent: The treatment depends on the degree of skin involvement. In general dermatologists recommend oral Prednisone in the dose of 40 - 60 mg slowly decreased in dose over 2-3 weeks or a shot of kenalog (triamcinolone) at 1mg/kg intramuscularly. The problem is that many people flare, even after a several week course of the medicine. Here is the key--wash everything, including your dog if you had your pet with you. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Please explain a diagnostic cortisone shot? I need to know if the shot takes away the pain does this mean internal problems? And if not then what
Drops inflammation: Cortisone injections, such as dexamethasone and depo medrol, act at the cellular level to reduce inflammation. It blocks the cytokines, lymphocytes (white blood cells), histamines, and other cells and chemicals involved in injury & inflammation. If the shot is effective then this is diagnostic for inflammation being present and being the major pathological process. ...Read more
Paresthesia and shot: It depends where your paresthesia is and where the novocaine shot will be. If your paresthesia is localized to a specific area and the shot will be in a different area of the body, then the chances are that the paresthesia will probably not get worse temporarily. If the paresthesia and shot are in the same area, then there will be an increase in the numbness in that area for a few hours. ...Read more
See an allergist: It would be best to have tests to see if you have a true allergy to lidocaine, or perhaps reacted to epinephrine which might have been given with lidocaine. There are other local anesthetics which could be used instead in an epidural, such as bupivacaine or ropivacaine. A doctor who specializes in allergy medicine can do skin testing to see which local anesthetics you can take. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
