My calcium level is 8.5. Do i need to take a supplement? Also i take Synthroid (thyroxine) and my TSH is 2.380, shouldn't it be closer to 1?
A good idea,,: It would be a good idea to take a supplement, however your level isn't too bad considering your h/o h. Pylori, which hopefully has been cleared up or at least treated. So you might want to see your doctor to get an idea of how much you should take. Calcium gluconate is fractionally better absorbed and sometimes better tolerated, but is more expensive per mg of calcium absorbed. You need approx. 1000 mg of elemental calcium a day, plus approx 2000 units ofvitamin d3.
