Low Fat Diet: No i think your doctor did not mean to consume fatty foods but to eat a balanced diet, not one specifically trying to eliminate fats as some fats, like omega-3's are essential fatty acids and quite beneficial to consume. Opinions, opinions: I don't think it will matter too much - so a big part of your answer will be which you like better. Also different brands can differ. But, i've heard from nutritionist friends that the range from whole to fat free is much smaller than the public thinks. If you have gall bladder problems or a specific reason to avoid fat, think non-dairy! otherwise, read labels & buy what you like. ...Read more

For the next week please check your blood sugar at breakfast and just before lunch and the next day check before lunch and before supper. If the blood sugar values are OK don't worry. Yes, as long as...: Vegan diets when done properly are very healthy. High carb diets can lead to weight gain but that is what you are aiming for. Not all carbs are created equal. Minimize simple carbs (sugars, starches) and emphasize complex carbs. No need to avoid healthy fats like olive oil, coconut oil and nuts. Make sure you are getting enough protein.
