Breathing: I am not sure what you mean by reverse breathing. Taking deep breaths will not hurt your lungs. If you inhale toxins, smoke, exposed to fumes for a period of time then you could hurt your lungs. If you blow out deeply that also should not hurt your lungs. ...Read more

Could be the ribs...: Ribs can hurt at the cartilage. The ribs actually move at the cartilage. There are joints where different bones meet. Inflammation (irritation, tenderness, pain) there is called costochondritis. For that, Motrin or advil (ibuprofen) can help. Poor Asthma Control: Sounds like you have a history of poorly controlled asthma.
