Any advice? I have had protein in my urine since 2005. Anyone have a clue of why I have protein in my urine?

Underlying kidney dz: presence of protein in the urine is usually suggestive of underlying kidney disease. When the kidney filters get damaged the protein from blood tends to leak into the urine and causes further damage. most common causes are diabetes and high blood pressure. I'm a SLE patient just want to ask reason why I had a protein in my urine test.I am taking prednisone 5mg/day last month I'm taking 10mg/day.
Need to check: SLE can affect the kidneys. You don't say how much protein, but ask your Rheumatologist if important because Lupus Nephritis usually needs more treatment than prednisone alone.
