This morning I coughed up abit of blood in my phlegm I've had abit of a sore throats and the rest of the day I've been fine?
Dr. Can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees a doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly. It's hard to tell if phlegm is from the nose, throat, or lungs, but persistent bloodiness would need an exam.
Metallic mouth taste: There are many causes for a metal taste in the mouth. Most are systemic and need a internal medical consult to find the answer. They will check diet meds topicals, etc that may be involved. The mouth often reflects conditions elsewhere in the body. Pay attention when our body sends up this kind of signal. I have an upper respiratory infection and I am being treated with a zpak I had some blood In my phlegm is this normal from the hard coughing?
Could be normal: Generally speaking patients with illnesses that cause heavy coughing can develop some blood tinged sputum. As long as you're under treatment and it does not worsen and improves you should be fine. The biggest concern with bloody sputum is tuberculosis, and unless you have reason to believe you have had exposure tuberculosisyou will likely be fine.
I have a sinus infection and I am on cefdinir sine a week. I have 3 more days of the course. I can breath better and nose is not as stuffy as it was but I get blood in my phlegm. Is this serious?
Not unusual: Are you on any other treatments beside the antibiotic. Some nasal sprays can cause minor bleeding or dry membranes from decongestants. The blood may be from the back of your nose and should resolve when the infection is gone. It is also possibile you are coughing up the blood, again which is could happen with infection, but if it doesn't resolve should be evaluated by your doctor.See 1 more doctor answer
See a doctor: In my humble opinion, any time a person coughs up blood, even in phlegm this warrants an evaluation by a doctor. It could be infection, it could be a growth or a tumor. It could be a posterior nose bleed back down your throat. It is never normal for this to occur, and I would advise you to be seen.
