Why Is The Clavicle A Bone That Can Easily Fracture
A fracture is a broken bone. As there is cartilage at the end of many bones at the joint, a fracture may also include a break in the cartilage. Fractures and broken bones are the same thing. It seems that many believe that a "fracture" is a lesser injury or an incomplete break in the bone, but this is not correct. Fractures may be displaced or ...Read more
Is it okay for a broken leg to be healing with the bones not aligned? There is a big gap where it was a spiral and the bones are sitting wonky
No: If the bones have not been aligned, then they will heal improperly and permanently malaligned. You should get that looked at by an orthopedic surgeon, have x-rays done, and then have them aligned as soon as possible. ...Read more
Is it possible that a broken humerus bone heal but extended the normal growth that may cause us inability to move the joint?
Probably: Bones should never protrude through the skin. If a bone is popping through the skin it is very likely that you have broken it and the sharp edge of that fracture is "popping" through and causing the wound in the first place. Unless you already had a large open wound to begin with that exposes the bone perhaps but definitely get medical attention. Osteomyelitis - bone infection is serious risk. ...Read more

I have a wrist fracture with the scaphoid bone broken at the waist. Can i insist that bone not be taken from my hip to fix it? Surgery was recommended by an orthopedic doctor to repair a non-union wrist fracture with the scaphoid bone broken at the waist
No: Depends on the fracture and how much bone is needed. One study showed bone grafting from distal radius had lower healing rates than graft from the hip. But in some selected cases (but not all) percutaneous fixation can be used with or without bone graft. Ask your surgeon what is best in you. Additionally, a healed zygomatic fracture that does not impinge on nerves, muscle or blood vessels can also be painless ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

When someone has a previously broken bone heal in the wrong position, how do they break the bone to fix it?
First we call for: A tow truck, then we tie a long chain to the bone... .Actually a surgeon doesn't "break" the bone by some violent mechanism. Ether the fracture is carefully dissected out and the healing bone is removed to reveal the original facture pattern or a combination of small drrills, saws and sharp chisel like tools called osteotomes are very precisely used to cut the bone where needed and planned. ...Read more
