When do I expect my menses after a failed IVF cycle? All medications have been stopped and yet my period is not following.

When do I expect my menses after a failed IVF cycle? All medications have been stopped and yet my period is not following.

Usually on time: Generally the cycle will come 2-5 days after the Progesterone has been discontinued sometimes though the process may not happen as planned. At a minimum i would check another pregnancy test if the cycle doesn't start on time. Otherwise check with your provider for instructions. Good luck it's a tough process. ...Read more

Not uncommon: While most women resume their normal menstrual cycles after infertility treatment, it is not uncommon for women to have an irregular cycle directly after. Sometimes, it may take some time for one's body to get adjusted back to normal after being exposed to various hormones, both exogenous (medication) and endogenous (produced by the ovary). However, if irregular cycle persists, notify physician. ...Read more

Had 3 failed iui's & 2 failed ivf's. I was told that my egg quality is bad. After my last IVF had my period on time but thismonth I am 10 days late.

Not always the case: I know many fertility doctor tell you that your egg quality is bad when they do not have good results. It is not true for every patient. I strongly suggest you to have a second opinion. We have many patients previously diagnosed with poor egg quality, get pregnant in our center with natural cycle ivf or mild stimulation ivf. ...Read more

Think my period has started. Heavier flow with clots. Shoul i stop pesseries or is there any chance of still being pregnant after 2 put back from ivf?

Don't stop: The bleeding is a worrisome sign but not diagnostic of a failed cycle. I recommend getting a blood test to check for pregnancy and/or talking with your ivf provider before changing meds on your own. Too much at stake :) best wishes. ...Read more

After IVF failure and after stopping progesteron, if my period did not come what does that mean and can beta hCG test be wrong.?

After IVF failure and after stopping progesteron, if my period did not come what does that mean and can beta hCG test be wrong.?

It can be wrong...: Hcg can be wrong (rarely), so i recheck it if a period didn't start 7-10 days from stopping progesterone. More likely, bleeding won't start until the prog. Leaves your system, which can take a week or more, depending on that type of Progesterone you were using and how high your levels were when you stopped. Also, ovarian corpus luteum cysts can make Progesterone and that can prevent a bleed. ...Read more
