Why is my husbands left testicle swollen and soar?

Why is my husbands left testicle swollen and soar?

Many causes.: Swelling of the testicle itself can be caused by infection or by the appearance of cancer. Swelling of the scrotum, which houses the testicles, is much more common. Fluid can build up around the testicle, such as in a hydrocele or spermatocele. Dilated blood vessels called varicoceles can also enlarge the scrotum. If you have this problem, please see your physician or urologist for an examination.

Swollen left testicle with pain?

Swollen left testicle with pain?

Testis pain = see Dr: Testicle pain means a trip to the doctor right away because a testicle's blood supply can be twisted off (called torsion). When that happens, the testicle can die. Other causes of testicle pain include trauma, infection, twisting of an appendix of a testicle (a small lump next to a testicle), etc. Since one usually cannot tell if his testicle is twisted, an exam by a clinic or ER doctor is needed.

Likely a hydrocele: Hydrocele is a collection of fluid around testicle often thought 2B enlargement of testicle itself. Almost always benign, however is sometimes associated with testis tumor. Thus consultation with urologist + scrotal ultrasound is advised

Varicocele: This is probably not normal. Some people after surgery might have a little bit of fluid collection inside the testicular coverings. Follow up with your surgeon and maybe he will order an ultrasound to look for the cause of this.

My son has a swollen, left testicle. There is no pain, he says it does not hurt. What could have caused this and what should I do?

Show pediatrician: B"sd very good for you to have noticed. This needs to be evaluated. Most common I believe would be a scrotal hernia, with varicocele maybe next. Testicular tumor would be very rare at this age. Your pediatrician will probably be able to diagnose with physical exam. In any case get this looked at in the next day or two to limit possible damage to the testicle.

Many causes: The best course of action depends on what is causing the testicle swelling, and is it painful? If this is bacterial or caused by an STD, you need treatment! See a family doctor or a urologist for an exam and evaluation. Hemorrhoids are usually not a problem that prevents deployment.

Go to ER or your doc: Need evaluation by a physician to make sure the injury did not cause damage, or did not have torsion (twisting) You may need a sonogram

Epididymitis?: It sounds like you may have epididymitis, an infection of the testicle. In young men (under 35), this is usually due to gonorrhea or chlamydia, but of course not if you aren't at risk for catching an STD. If pain was sudden onset, maybe testicular torsion, needs immediate care. For sure see a doctor ASAP -- if severe pain or any fever, get seen even on weekend, urgent care or ER if necessary.
