Stress (Definition)

Stress affects most people in some way. Acute (sudden, short-term) stress leads to rapid changes throughout the body. Almost all body systems (the heart and blood vessels, immune system, lungs, digestive system, sensory organs, and brain) gear up to meet perceived danger. These stress responses could prove beneficial in a critical, life-or-death situation. Over time, however, repeated stressful situations put a strain on the body that may contribute to physical and psychological problems. Chronic (long-term) stress can have real health consequences and should be addressed like any other health concern. Fortunately, research is showing that lifestyle changes and stress-reduction techniques can help people learn ...Read more

under dosed?: See your dermatologist and ask him if the 30 mg dose is sufficient. It is usually based on weight. The standard is 1mg/kg/d so a 130 pound person should be on 60 mg per day. Also, it is not unusual for people to get a little worse on Isotretinoin before they get better- so don't panic! ...Read more

See Your Derm: See your dermatologist. You may need a mild retinoid (tretinoin) to keep you from breaking out, at least for a few months. This will likley pass uneventfully. However, there could be another cause for this type of breakout. Your dermatologist can help you with this frustrating flare. ...Read more

Toothpaste: I don't know who starts this hoax, but toothpaste can badly damage your skin. As you have experienced, OTC's, off label applications (like using toothpaste on forehead instead of teeth), and Internet "solutions" are at best worthless, at worst harmful. For best treatment please see a skin specialist, a Dermatologist. They treat problems like yours all day every day. See a Pro. ...Read more

Hormonal, stress: Acne is one of those things that is always waiting there to attack if you give it a chance. So depending on hormonal changes in some, stress in others, it can erupt. Often times it is self limited and will improve with some time. Now, if you do not want to wait there are always skin care products and medications to help. I dont get bad acne and i started to have break outs on my forehead and chest. I was taking oxicondone and amoxicillin but im done is this the reason?

ACNE: Unless its a rash and not actual comedones, its not related to the medication you report. Why were you taking Amox and Oxy? what are your medical conditions? how what does the acne look like? is it just non-inflammed white or black heads or red, tender nodulocysts and pustules? Not knowing anything about you or the skin condition makes it impossible to provide a relevant response. ...Read more
