Why Is My Baby Suddenly Eating Less
Can be normal: Children have appetites that vary. As toddlers (12-24 months in particular) they will have days they eat like an adult and days they eat not at all. As long as baby feels good and acts normal just monitor appetite.Be sure he/she is drinking to stay hydrated. Sometimes appetite decreases when teething or if they are feeling badly. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
They could be sick: Problems feeding or significant changes in feeding patterns can be a sign that something is wrong with your infant. Every infant can vary their feeding patterns, so a happy infant, without a fever, who just feeds less during one feed, is not concerning. However, if your infants is feeding much less or if they are very sleepy and hard to arouse, you should call your pediatrician immediately. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My baby boy is 7 weeks old and has been sleeping a lot more through the day and eating less. Just wanting to know if this is normal?
Checkup: He is due for his 8wk check up; so as long as he is not obviously dehydrated take him in on an appt for routine followup and get him weighed; be sure to bring your concerns up and make sure all is well. It is normal to sleep alot; but as long as your baby is getting enough food and fluids his weight should be fine and a good indicator of how well he is doing. ...Read more

Is it normal to lose about 5kg without exercising nor eating less? I used to gym frequently though.
Maybe: So, you go to gym frequently but not exercising? I am not sure i got that right. Losing 5 kgs (~12lbs) w/out exercising or changing in diet and having no other symptoms may be somewhat hard to explain. Sometimes restructuring your eating pattern may help (eating less dinner, for example). Also, weighing yourself on the same scale is very important, as different scales may show different #s. ...Read more

Wide range of normal: For adults, we use body mass index (http://www.Nhlbi.Nih.Gov/guidelines/obesity/bmi/bmicalc.Htm) to calculate normal weight for given height, regardless of age, gender & skeletal frame etc. For children, we use bmi-tile (http://apps.Nccd.Cdc.Gov/dnpabmi/) for which 5-85% is healthy. Assuming you turned 16yo today, 111# to 162# is healthy corresponding to bmi of 16.9 to 24.8 (close to adult norms). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
How do I find my natural weight i was 147 pounds at my heaviest when i wasn't doing much exercise and I am currently 119 and eating less and exercisin?
Wide range of normal: We use body mass index (http://www.Nhlbi.Nih.Gov/guidelines/obesity/bmi/bmicalc.Htm) to calculate normal weight for given height, regardless of gender & skeletal frame. As you can see, one size doesn't fit all. Still aiming for bmi of 18.5-24.9 is considered normal, assuming female waist <35" & male waist <40". Ugh, but if you're <19yo, we also need to take age & gender into account using bmi-tile. ...Read more

So I've replaced sugary drinks with water and have been eating less for the pass 3 months. I've lost 20pounds since then, is this healthy?
Intentional wt loss: Yes, and it highlights just how many "empty" calories aer in sweet beverages--they do not make us feel any fuller, just make us look 'fuller' (=fat). Dropping these is a great start. Now try to be active (extent depends on you/your health) to keep muscle mass up and fat down. Congrats! ...Read more
