Why Is It That A Person Should Take Hydrocortisone Tablets With Food Or Meals
Cortisone is a naturally produced hormone in the body, produced by the adrenal glands. It is often used as a potent medication for inflammatory disease. In serious cases, it is a "wonder" drug, and can be life saving. However, long and continuous use can cause many serious and uncomfortable side effects. Hydrocortisone is a topical skin variety and much ...Read more

Should resolve: Most likely it will resolve on its own without any treatment. Food is not going to help it. If the area looks infected or like there is a chemical burn have an Obgyn examine the area. ...Read more

Should an increase in petechiae be looked into when on hydrocortisone (cortef) tablets? Have had some for years but they are increasing in numbers.
Absolutely: I am going to assume that your health is stable and that you are not thrombocytopenic. If you actually have petechiae, they always deserve to be worked up; you want to know whether you have a capillary fragility syndrome. In the US, we have food faddists who give themselves scurvy; I trust Australians are more sensible. Cortef (hydrocortisone) makes capillaries more fragile. I'd get specialist consultation. ...Read more

Dr prescribed 2.5 MG hydrocortisone 3 x a day. I took the first dose at 4 this afternoon andnow have a dry cough. From pill? Dangerous or no big deal?
Day or so: Cortizone (hydrocortisone) cream like all corticosteroids to become effective needs to be transported into the cytoplasm of the cell where it binds the steroid receptor. This is transported into nucleus and binds to another receptor. This affects mrna which then makes specific proteins. These proteins affect inflammatory mediators that leads to symptom improvement. This process takes 6-8 hours. ...Read more

I got hydrocortisone 1% cuz my pharmacy didn't have 2% I'm adviced to take 2% to my external pile bleeding. The difference? Ok to use it? How often?
I still haven't noticed a difference in my rash after hydrocortisone cream? How long does it take to work?
Skin rash: There are a number of reasons why the Hydrocortisone cream does not work: you have not used it long enough, the Hydrocortisone is not strong enough and you need a prescription cortisone cream, the rash does not respond to cortisone and is a fungal rash and you need an anti fungal cream. I recommend you see your local dermatologist for help with your rash. ...Read more

I had a benign petuitary tumour removed in Dec 2013 and have been taking hydrocortisone tablets since. I want a tattoo but unsure if safe to get one.
No if my kid!:
He faints with a simple needle stick. Without adrenal hormones, stress can cause circulatory collapse. With him, a tattoo is dangerous. Of course with most people just getting stuck with a needle is a minor stress, tolerated well and little risk.
Extra steroids outside of the body are unlikely to do much INside the body if/when absorbed

Hi, got cortizone (hydrocortisone) injection for my elbow tendonitus. How long be it takes full effect. Should it hurt first before feeling good?
Can take days-week: Steroid injections usually include lidocaine which initially numbs the area, making it feel better until it wears off. Site pain can then actually increase until steroid can take effect to reduce inflammation, which can take days to a week. I recommend icing area, using an elbow airpillow (like AIRCAST) and ibuprofen/naproxne with limited use of arm until symptoms improve. See Dr if no better. ...Read more
