Is processed meat without nitrates ok to eat? I brought this turkey deli slices it says it is preserved used "Caramelized sugars" is this safe?
Just ok: I wouldn't consider any deli meat a healthy option because of the processes needed for preservation. Usually, nitrates are used, which are transformed into nitrites and increase risk of upper GI cancer. Nutrition: Why do people, in general, think that eating sugary tasting fruit is any better than eating candy? Sugar is sugar, right?
Fruit is much better: Sugar or sucrose in candy is a combination of glucose and fructose. It is rapidly digested and absorbed resulting in increased fat storage in fat and the liver, in part promoted by Insulin stimulation. Balanced diet: Sugary foods alone for breakfast, do not give you a balanced nutrition for the rest of the day. A small amount of protien, and fruit fiber will buffer the high sugar content foods and carbohydrates.
