Sleeping problems: Try to establish bedtime rituals to help him fall asleep properly. Try to do the same things every night. If your child falls asleep and then wakes up at night, wait 3-5 minutes, then go to his room and calm him down without picking him up or feeding him. If calms down, leave him. If wakes up again, wait 10 minutes and go to his room and do the same thing. Next time he cries, wait 20 minutes ...Read more

Why is my ten month old son waking up crying every hour at night?

Why is my ten month old son waking up crying every hour at night?

Doctor to evaluate: A ten month-old baby who starts crying hourly at night has a problem and should see his doctor. The problem could be ear pain, throat ulcers, head ache, tummy pain, tight clothes, fever, or something else that's preventing him from staying asleep. He may be starting a new viral or bacterial illness. If he is much better in the morning, that is reassuring, but his doctor needs to evaluate him. ...Read more

My baby is 6.5 m old. He was a great sleeper but since i started feeding him, he started waking up at night crying hysterically. Why is this happening?

Transition: Between 6 and 9 months babies have an emotional awakening. They realize their primary caregivers are special and become anxious if they are not present. This separation anxiety often alters sleep patterns. A periodic visit at night to let them see you did not vanish is helpful.I would check him from a distance and revisit every 5-10 min until he settles back to sleep. This is a normal stage. ...Read more

Poor Sleep Habits: Poor sleep hygiene is not uncommon in toddlers. Many toddlers have difficulty transitioning back to sleep once awake. Try to refrain from feeding or taking him it out his bed when he wakes up. Also try using a toy or blanket to provide security and comfort to help him transition back to sleep when he wakes up. My breastfed baby started waking up at 6months, 1 time per night, now at 1year& he wakes up 4 times per night. What should I do& what is the reason?

My breastfed baby started waking up at 6months, 1 time per night, now at 1year& he wakes up 4 times per night. What should I do& what is the reason?

The reason is most..: ....Likely that he has come to understand that when he awakens and calls out, you come into the room. A 1 year old doesn't need to feed 4 times a night if he's eating well in daytime. Check to make sure he's ok (dry, not feverish etc.), then don't pick him up or otherwise indulge him. If he's physically ok, leave the room. Expect him to scream. He needs to learn to self soothe. ...Read more

Why my 2.5 year old wakes up couple of times at night crying and falls back to sleep after?

If he/she is fine: during the day and isn't ill, these could be nightmares or night terrors. Night terrors are very common in children and often the child wakes up crying, but doesn't realize they are awake and then falls back to sleep (like sleep walking and sleep talking). If your child has had a cold, perhaps he/she has an ear infection. Please call your child's doctor to discuss and possibly see. ...Read more

My 2 month old sleeps for 7 hours at night. She never wake up for feeding. Should I forcefully wake her up and feed?

My 2 month old sleeps for 7 hours at night. She never wake up for feeding. Should I forcefully wake her up and feed?

Let babies sleep...: If she is happy and growing, leave her alone. After 3 months of age, parents can give a feeding at 10 p.m. or thereabouts, and expect the baby to sleep 6 hours. If a normal baby sleeps 6-8 hours and is fine the next day, she'll eat enough during the day to make up for sleeping all night (and parents will sleep well at night, too). A normal 2-month baby sleeping well at night means lucky parents. ...Read more

Other features ??: If the kid is fully awake when you check him and calms to your visit, this can arise from many sources.Separation anxiety, changes in living conditions, absence of a parent, all may play a role.A medical condition should be evident during daytime activities. If the kid is not awakeor doesn't immediately waken to your touch, it might be a sleep disorder called a night terror, more common to older kids. ...Read more

Observe: The kids with night terrors are often sleep deficient and enter deep sleep state like sleep walkers.Kids with nightmares will waken immediately to light touch, night terrors do not and you should let it run its course. Most last 5-10 min.If you shake to wake it frightens them. Nt are not remembered. A change in sleep routine that permits as little as 15 min more sleep/night will often end these. ...Read more

My five year old daughter has coughing fits at night. She caughs a little during the day but it's worse at night. It's been going on for about 2 weeks?

Post nasal drip: Her cough is probably due to a post nasal drip. During the day she can handle the secretions by sneezing or blowing her nose. At night she is lying flat in bed and the mucus drips down and iritates her respiratory tree. Elevate her mattress so she is sleeping on an angle and uses vaporizer for her. ...Read more
