Hard to say: The most delicate skin on the buttocks would be the area around the anus. Hydrocortisone would need to be used carefully there. However, some causes of itching in that area would not respond to hydrocortisone. Pin worms for one, yeast or fungal infection for another, and a bacterial infection also wouldn't do well with hydrocortisone. ...Read more

A few possibilities: If you have been exposed to new substances, this could be plain old contact dermatitis; try to find what might be irritating your skin. Shingles would be a bad case scenario to maybe get checked out. The worst case scenario would be a recurrent rash like that which could represent herpes on your rear end that keep coming on over and over: Valtrex (valacyclovir) would be the treatment for that or the shingles. ...Read more

Anal Itching?: I am assuming your anus itches. Several causes. Partial rectal prolapse can cause this. Mucous glands on the outside and wet and not meant to be there. Causes poor hygiene. Pin worms can cause this. Hemorrhoids can cause this. Yeast and other fungan and bacterial infecitons can cause this. Use baby wipes, balneol or other rectal cleanser. Check for pin worms.
