I have IBS symptoms, however all of my blood tests and x-rays have came back normal. Do i even have ibs? What should my next step be?

IBS Dx & Tx : Ibs is not defined by blood tests, imaging or other diagnostic tests & most don't need any of these tests. Depending on the specific symptoms, abdominal imaging, endoscopy & stool studies may be needed, not to diagnose ibs, but to rule out other possibilities. Start by educating yourself about ibs, stress reduction & dietary modification http://www.Aboutibs.Org/site/about-ibs/management/ibs-diet. ...Read more

I was told that I have positive ANA results and that i also have protein in my urine. I was referred to see a rheumatology doctor. What does this mean?

Nonspecific: ANA stands for "anti-nuclear antibody." It's a blood test that detects a type of antibody in your blood. This test is almost always positive in patients with lupus. However, healthy patients can have positive ANA as well! Your doc is concerned you may have lupus. However, ANA and urine protein tests are very nonspecific, and could mean many things. A rheumatologist will provide more information. ...Read more

If I took a sweat test for Crohn's diease and tested positive, does this mean I have crohn's?

I was recently diagnosed with IBS and I have been told I have a positive ana, what does that mean?

I was told I have IBS but another doctor says I need a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy asap, should I be worried as I have most of bowl cancer symptoms?

Impossible to say...: Given the very limited information you've provided, it's impossible to speculate as to cause. You have not told us the acuity, severity, extent, circumstances, accompaniments, or exact location of your pain (if any), nor what tests have been accomplished and what was ruled out. Please return to your physician(s) and proceed with further evaluation so a fix for your symptom(s) can be identified. ...Read more

Why would Buscopan not work for my IBS if GP says that is what I have got?

Why would Buscopan not work for my IBS if GP says that is what I have got?

Depends: IBS is typically a diagnosis of exclusion. It could be associated with diarrhea predominance or constipation predominance or mixed. It also has some psychological component to it. Stress, diet, sleep etc. needs to be stabilized as well. Not everything is treated with medications alone in this case. If it persists with lifestyle adjustments and buscopan- might need to see your GP again for work up. ...Read more

I have had urin test, cat scan, and blood work and nothing shows anything. I feel like I have a uti. What can this be? They put me on antibiotics anyway

I have lots of symptoms that point to coeliac. 3 members of my family have it but my blood tests keep coming back negative. I do think that I have it, what should I do?

I have lots of symptoms that point to coeliac. 3 members of my family have it but my blood tests keep coming back negative. I do think that I have it, what should I do?

Consider biopsy: With the strong family history, your gastroenterologist may be willing to do the biopsy and ask the pathologist to count lymphocytes. I have some reason to think that there are biopsy-demonstrable celiac disease cases for which the antibodies do not turn positive. Your third-party payer may balk but this may not be an unsurmountable problem. ...Read more

Is it normal to have trace of leukocytes in urine? I saw my test results and was told I did not have a bladder infection but I feel some symptoms that lead me to believe I do.
