Why does my wife continue to get yeast infections? Is my semen feeding the yeast?

Why does my wife continue to get yeast infections? Is my semen feeding the yeast?

It's all about pH: Remember acid/base balance? The normal pH of a woman's vagina is 4.0. The pH of semen is 8.0 and of menstrual blood is 7.4. This is one of the questions i want to ask god when i meet him. A woman's vagina can be a petri dish for infections. Yeast is common but bacterial vaginal infections are 10x more common due to the above referenced pH imbalance. ...Read more

You are a carrier?: Yeast generally is not transmitted between sex partners. More likely, you carry it in your vagina and physical contact or mild irritation from sex triggers symptoms. Maybe try staying ahead of it with once weekly OTC fluconazole (Diflucan®). If it doesn't work, see gyn to confirm the diagnosis and make sure no underlying problem like diabetes. This has nothing to do w/ husband's alcohol problem. ...Read more

I have HPV & i get BV & yeast infections too often! i mostly notice the BV after intercourse with husband. Is it his semen causing this along with hpv?

Bacterial vaginosis: The skin on your husband's penis may be colonized with the bacteria causing your BV and he can be reinfecting you. If he uses an antibacterial cream regularly until you are free of symptoms that might help to solve this. This will not relate to the hpv. ...Read more

Can a male yeast infection cause thick gelatinous semen and very easily irritated redness under tip of penis?

No & Yes: Yeast infection can cause skin irritation and redness. It does not usually change semen--that would more likely be a second infection (often occur in multiples)--possibly STD/STI if any risk. Recommend getting tested by your Dr or at Urgent Care. ...Read more

Will putting fruit in non sweetened yogurt with acidophilus feed the yeast i my body?! or does it matter. Trying to get rid of yeast infection.

No: In a healthy person who does not have a medical problem such as diabetes, eating yogurt with fruit should not affect the ability of the yogurt to help with a yeast infection. However, eating yogurt with live cultures only does not always treat a yeast infection. Often topical or oral medications are needed to clear a yeast infection. See your physician to treat this if it is not improving. ...Read more

Can my wife get a bacterial infection or a yeast infection by having doggystle sexual intercourse?

Yes, but not because: A woman can get a bacterial infection like BV (bacterial vaginosis) or a yeast infection (candida), but it is not due to her position during sex. Doggy or non-doggy should not make any difference in whether or not she gets BV or candida. ...Read more

Maybe: This is most likely if the cause is trichomonas. If this does happen, you can get treated together and this will probably be a very good thing in the long run for eradicating the infection. The other prostatitis microbes aren't so catching. Was a microbe identified? ...Read more

Being treated for a yeast infection on arm. Can i sleep in the same bed as my wife?

Being treated for a yeast infection on arm. Can i sleep in the same bed as my wife?

Little or no risk: Maybe a non-yeast fungal infection. (Yeast is a type of fungus, but other fungus types usually cause non-genital skin infections.) Not eastily transmitted to others. And the fungus maybe present for months before rash started, so your wife has already been repeatedly exposed. Probably no point in changing sleep arrangements at this time. Check with the doctor treating you if you remain in doubt. ...Read more
