Why Does My Uterus Hurt When I Cough
For a few years now, when I cough laying down my uterus/ovaries hurt. It only happens when im laying on my back. Is that serious?
VALASALVA: When you cough you increase intrathoracic pressure. It is a bit unusal For this to cause pelvic pain. I would follow up with your doctor and have labs and urine tested as well as abdominal and pelvic ultrasound. You may have underlying endometriosis or an enlarged uterus from fibroids. ...Read more
The cough reflex is a protective mechanism that uses muscles in your throat and chest to expel mucous and saliva that may contain pathogens that would otherwise possibly be inhaled via aerosol or to expel pathogens infecting the throat and respiratory system. Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more
I have copper IUD for 2 cycles now. Mid cycle right now. Spasm ing in uterus and hurts to laugh or cough. I want it out. Can I go to er?
No: Er dr's do not like to do procedures they are not trained to do, even if it (in theory) is as easy as pulling the string. Since we are not surgeons or gynecologists, any complication would be beyond our expertise (other than stabilizing until gyn/surg comes). Have your gyn/dr who placed it remove it. It may not have anything to do w/symptoms you describe. ...Read more
I have just finished ovulating about 2 days ago and since then my uterus has been feeling sore and it hurts to cough, sneeze, laugh to hard, etc...
Common: With ovulation there is always a cyst on one of the ovaries. At the time of ovulation that cyst is about 2 cm in diameter, but after ovulation that cyst could enlarge to the size of a softball - that could easily explain your symptoms. It would require an ultrasound to be sure if that is what is happening. For most women who form the larger cysts, patience is all the treatment necessary. ...Read more
Probably normal: Coughing puts downward pressure on the uterus and the pelvic floor, so you may well have a sense of pulling. This could get more noticeable as you get older. If the discomfort is increasing over a short period of time you need to be checked. ...Read more
Need diagnosis...: Before a cough can be treated, the cause of the cough needs to be diagnosed. Possible causes of a chronic cough include bronchospasm from any cause, post-nasal drip, gerd or a combination of factors. Each of these has an entirely different treatment so see your doctor in order to diagnose and treat your cough. ...Read more
This has been bothering me today. How exactly does the embryo not just fall out after being implanted in the uterus? Think I would be scared to cough
It's implanted: An embryo is tiny (slightly bigger than the size of a dot on a page), and has taken root into the lining on the inside of one's uterus. After implantation, the embryo won't fall out any more likely than a healthy tree would fall over on it's own. ...Read more

Pelvic pain: Pelvic pain is complex as there are several organs in the pelvis. The ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, bladder, appendix, intestines, colon and rectum can all be the source. I am feeling full, bloated and abdominal n uterus movement and wondering my AF ended in 4 days than usual. I also have cough. I still feel preggy. Why?
I just got my period four days ago and every time I sneeze or cough my uterus twitches (there is 0 pain). My period has not been as heavy as it usual. What could this be from? Could I be pregnant and it's actually just implantation bleeding?
Likely a period, but: Wait. A positive pregnancy test can tell a woman that prior spotting was actually implantation spotting. It is hard to tell if a woman is pregnant because some of the symptoms seen in early pregnancy can also happen in non-pregnant women. A urine pregnancy test gives a reliable result about 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have been) or 1 week after starting a "weird" period. ...Read more
