Seal in moisture: Use gentle soap like dove to wash. Use lotion/cream/ointment with ceramide like cerave, which acts like a tupperware lid, sealing the moisturize in your skin. You can put a 2nd layer of extra moisturizer over the cerave. Moisturize your hands and wear gloves at night. Drink 8-10 glasses of fluid a day. Take fish oil daily. Use liquid bandage on your skin splits. Hope this helps! Read more

Consult Dermatology: Most common cause of this is an irritant or allergic contact dermatitis. Underlying irritant dermatitis is often a loss of the barrier protection function of the skin, which in turn is often caused by prolonged water contact. Common irritants are soap, detergents and household chemicals. Dyshidrotic eczema is similar but with the presence of puritic small vesicles on the palms or fingers. Read more

I am a bartender and my finge tips have completly turned it to cracked very dry skin and deformed my finger nails. ..Is this bar rott? What can I do

Irritation: I doubt this is infectious or anything actually rotting, although I enjoy the term. It may be an allergy to something you are coming into contact with or more likely just irritation and friction from the work you do. Common in many occupations where hands are used in repetitive movements from friction causing thick, cracked skin. Try aquaphor or cetaphil hand cream with cotton gloves 2x daily. Read more

Dyshidrosis always seems to occur on same spot, same finger in winter. I don't wear rings. Middle finger, distal joint. Skin cracks. Why same spot?

Same spot: There may be no known reason why the dyshidrosis also occurs on the same spot. That may be your domaninant hand and you may tend to do certain things with that finger. Washing your hands alot and not wearing gloves in the winter makes it worse. You should see a dermatologist for a cortisone cream. It is a treatment, but not a cure. Always use a mild soap when washing. Read more

I head a loud popping sound in my right hand followed by a crack, my fingers have been numb and I can close my hand half way before it starts to hurt?

Go see family doctor: You didn't describe what you were doing when this happened but assuming that you injured yourself, you need an x-ray to look for broken bone (s). At the very least, get evaluated looking for nerve damage. Otoh, many people can "crack their knuckles" w/o any pain. But if it hurts & causes numbness, it's time to get evaluated. Good luck! I have a dry cracked skin on right hand ring finger which sometime even bleed. For temporary relief I apply moisturizers and oils to keep finger moist?

Contact dermatitis: Probably coming from your ring. Your skin is probably sensitive to it. Now, moistuizers may help but Hydrocortisone cream will also heal the skin. If you have sensitive skin on that finger to that particular alloy, perhaps you could take it to a jewler and see if he can help. Read more

Hand eczema?: There are certain limitations imposed by this format which include the lack of a photograph of the skin lesions about which you requested information.
