Why Does My Right Nostril Bleeds When I Shower
My right nostril sometimes bleed first thing in the morning or throughout the day when I'm bending my head over, what could be the issue?
Nasal irritation?: This or allergies can cause bleeding. The inside of the nose can be very dry. The nose will bleed more when head is in down position. It is not uncommon early in AM Do you pick your nose or blow hard? Try some petroleum jelly in the nose both sides at night and see if this will help to stop the AM bleeding. Need to see an ENT: You most likely have an area in the front of your nose that is inflamed and irritated. There are large superficial blood vessels in the front of the nose that are easily injured by blowing and cleaning. Seeing an ENT doctor is important as he/she can look in your nose and see if there is a vessel that can be easily cauterized. Typically this can: result from nasal dryness, nose picking, injury, or a vulnerable blood vessel in the nose that may need cauterizing to control bleeding. Little's area: There is a small area of blood vessel confluence in the nostril that is prone to bleeding and usually affects only one side. If it becomes troublesome you should see an ENT specialist to have it cauterized. Dryness is a common trigger. You may use a very small amount of moisturizer in the nostril. Probably dryness: Most likely the inside of your nose is dry assuming you're not using any intranasal medications. In some patients dryness creates an inflammatory condition so there is also congestion. Suggest saline to cleanse any mucous or crusts then sesame oil 3-4 drops each nostril if not, allergic to sesame. Do this 2-4 times daily.
