Help! my newborn will only sleep if being held! the second I lay him down he crys and wants to nurse. Then falls back asleep n same thing all over!?

Nurse when waking up: Babies are new to the world & need guidance. They are not aware of sleep until well into the 2nd yr, so we need to mold their patterns around feeding & sleeping. Bf to wake baby after 2hr naps during the day, change, play until tired, rest 2hr & start over.Never allow 4-5hr day naps, but ok at night. Put baby down & get ear plugs if you need, baby will adapt easier than you will. ...Read more

Should I worry for my newborn while hes asleep?

Should I worry for my newborn while hes asleep?

Safe environment: Making a safe sleep environment for your baby will help lessen your worries. To do so, put your baby to sleep on their back on a firm mattress in their crib. Do not add any bumpers, blankets or pillows. Do not smoke. Its fine to check on your baby periodically, but remember that babies are loud sleepers an noises do not always mean they are awake! ...Read more

My newborn baby keeps crying, i think she is constipated, what can I do to stop her pain.Please.

Crying vs pain: Please do not get into the habit of equating crying with pain. Babies cry for hours every single day. This is how they communicate, stretch out their lungs, get you to come and hold them, get you to feed them. Make sure you are burping well, swaddle baby so they feel more secure, make sure baby getting enough to eat. If questions about normal stool patterns and whether she is constipated, ask doc. ...Read more

Possibly: Really can't tell over the internet. If it seems tender or swollen, or if the baby is fussy, I would have him seen for sure. May want to call the baby's pediatrician and discuss it with him/her. ...Read more

Weight gain: Please check the baby's weight. His weight should not be less than what he weighed at birth. Monitor the weight weekly to ensure that he is gaining weight. You should consult your doctor if he does not gain weight. In any case he should be checked in the well baby clinic at regular intervals. ...Read more

Constipation: Is hard and infrequent stools. You can give a glycerin suppository once and see igf that helps. Baby may be crying if mom is breastfeeding and drinking milk, eating dairy. If using milk based formula then can also cause tummy ache. Baby could be colicky too.. Go see your doctor and discuss this. You will feel better and so will baby! ...Read more

My newborn daughter 3 weeks old started to cry very badly when urinating every time. Her belly makes funn sounds as well. Is it related?

Call doc now: It is hard to say what this could be. But it could be serious. Call your doctor right now or get her seen at an emergency room or clinic. With babies in the first month of life, it is extra important to check out unusual changes in behavior that don't quickly go away. Other worrisome things are decreased ability to suck, limpness of the arms and crying that does not stop with the usual measures. ...Read more

My newborn (almost 1 MO) hasn't pooped in two days and seems to be in pain. Crying and drawing his legs up. Eating and peeing fine. What to do?

My newborn (almost 1 MO) hasn't pooped in two days and seems to be in pain. Crying and drawing his legs up. Eating and peeing fine. What to do?

Normal in some: Your typical breast fed baby can have a little poo smear every feeding or one giant blowout every 7-10 days.Formula babies go more often and daily. If soft, I don't consider it constipation. Babes do lots of leg drawing and fuss for no particular reason, but the process may help push food along.
