No: Alcohol is toxic to living tissues (we humans happen to be a complex glob of living tissues). Even moderate drinking is too much alcohol. Also, a person with IV contrast in her blood doesn't need any additional, voluntary toxins in her body. It's much safer to drink water or green tea, neither of which contain calories nor alcohol... and wait for the body to recover from the stress of IV contrast. ...Read more

Hard to say: but the fact that you have kept drinking despite the fact that your back hurts when you drink tells me that I should be concerned that you may have an alcohol problem. It could be inflammation of your pancreas, stomach, duodenum or a problem with your gallbladder. I strongly suggest STOPPING drinking until you get a diagnosis, and see your doctor for a full evaluation. ...Read more
Everytime I drink alcohol I almost instantly get a dull lower backache, and my spine starts to pop&click constantly when moving. Lasting a day or more
Avoid alcohol: These are uncommon effects of alcohol, however may be an adverse reaction. I do not understand how alcohol would cause joint clicking, but if you are having lower back pain it could mean you are not able to tolerate any alcohol. Unfortunately, alcohol has been linked to pancreatitis and nausea and vomiting. You should avoid it completely due to these risks and symptoms. ...Read more

No clue: Some people are very sensitive to the effects of alcohol on muscle, where it can cause inflammation of muscle cells (myositis), but this usually occurs after binges of large amounts of alcohol, not one drink. There are always idiosyncracies where people are more sensitive. Having a blood test that can show normal or elevated muscle enzymes can be ordered by your doctor, who you should talk to. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

The metabolite that does this, acetaldehyde, is poorly metabolized by some people, who tend to get both skin flushing and headaches, and even dizziness and fainting from low blood pressure. This is more common in Asians and Native Americans, but can occur in others. Stop drinking. ...Read more
