Sounds ominous: Don't like those symptoms proper workup already completed but if EMG was too early in the course may be normal and will be abnormal at 2 weeks from start of symptoms for a nerve entrapment otherwise stroke would be in the differential.

Why could my left hand feel oddly weak?

Why could my left hand feel oddly weak?

Act FAST!: Check out http://www.stroke.org/understand-stroke/recognizing-stroke/act-fast. F = facial asymmetry or drooping. A = arm/leg weakness. S = speech difficulties. T = time (you have less than 3hrs to get to ER for diagnosis & treatment) so call 911 to expedite your evaluation & care. Don't wait to see if weakness goes away.

Why might it be that my left hand keeps going weak and tingly?

Why might it be that my left hand keeps going weak and tingly?

No blood: U may have temporarily cut off the circulation to your arm/hand or have compressed the nerves in your upper hand, thus affecting your hand. May be from a bad resting position.

May be nothing: So long as the strength of the hand came back within a minute or two after awakening and so long as that doesn't happen again you may have simply been sleeping on it in a funny matter. If the problem persists or if you begin to get painful sensations in the wrist or numbness and tingling in the first three digits of that hand then, you should see your doctor or a neurologist.

My left hand feels weak grabbing things and when I type for the last few days. It feels like I can't control it properly. What could this be?

Worrisome: You could have something as benign as a pinched nerve but you may also be having a stroke. Weakness and loss of dexterity are hallmarks if a stroke. Please get into a ER as soon as possible!

What could lead to my left hand to be numb, tingly, and weak?

What could lead to my left hand to be numb, tingly, and weak?

Numbness: To know for sure, you need an examination. Differential diagnosis could be cervical radiculopathy (pinched nerve in neck), brachial plexopathy, peripheral nerve entrapment such as ulnar neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, or even myofascial pain with trigger points. Would suggest a pm&r evaluation for definitive diagnosis and treatment.

I have sudden weakness and pain in my left hand. My right is fine, but grasping with left is weak and a bit painfull why is this?

Arthritis, maybe: Sounds like this could be arthritis. Hand surgeons are quite good at helping people with hand and wrist arthritis. See one for an exam and an x-ray. I bet you'll be happy you did.

The side & pinky of my left hand went numb & the hand was very weak. That lasted for months. Now it's the other hand, what could be wrong?

The side & pinky of my left hand went numb & the hand was very weak. That lasted for months. Now it's the other hand, what could be wrong?

Most common cause of: This problem is ulnar neuropathy, a nerve supplying the ring and pinky fingers with adjacent part of the hand. Its normally trapped at the elbow (funny bone area) or at wrist (less commonly). Another possibility is that 2 sides nerves are getting trapped at the neck level. See an orthopod and a neurologist to confirm the DX and treatment to be started.

I've had a tingling feeling on left hand pinky for a week now and it is also causing some weakness in my hand. Is it cubital tunnel? Only 23 yr old

I've had a tingling feeling on left hand pinky for a week now and it is also causing some weakness in my hand. Is it cubital tunnel? Only 23 yr old

Hand weakness: And tingling in small finger can be cubical tunnel at the elbow but the ulnar nerve can be compressed at the wrist or anywhere along its path the neck can also be a site of nerve root irritation. Watching elbow and hand position avoidant prolonged of flexion we're resting elbows or forearm on the edge of the desk or armrest may help but if symptoms persist specially with weakness please seeon the edge of the desk or armrest may help but if symptoms persist specially with weakness please see healthcare provider

Possible stroke: This is NOT something to delay. You need to see a doctor ASAP, perhaps even a visit to a hospital ER. You may have sustained a right sided stroke, and if so, treatment should be sought now.

What would cause shoulder qnd left arm and left hand to be very weak with no indurery?

Family practice: If it is just involving your left upper extremity could be from a compressed disk in your neck. Have you had neck pain. You should see a neurologist get a nerve conduction test and possibly an MRI of cervical spine. Other causes need to be ruled out.
