Postoperative pain: Knee pain and swelling is a normal process after knee surgery in the immediate days following. The severity does depend on what type of surgery you had. For example: recovery from a total knee arthroplasty takes months for swelling to slowly resolve. Pain typically should improve within 1-2 weeks. New onset of pain months out would be worrisome and should be evaluated by your surgeon or local ER. ...Read more
This is common: The pressure of the atmosphere is lower (low pressure area), and the pressure of the knee doesn't change, so it is relatively INCREASED in the knee. It feels swollen when atmospheric pressure on it goes DOWN. Usually occurs in the context of mild arthritis/joint damage with swelling. ...Read more
Pressure and temp: A few studies have shown that especially for people with arthritis and healed fractures, joint pain can change based on outside weather. We have pressure receptors that can be could be triggered when outside pressure changes -like when it rains. Temperature changes during stormy weather can also account for the pain. I wouldn't worry too much if you're having a little pain, though. ...Read more
Why does my knee hurt whenever I keep it bent for a while (like sitting in a car) and even more when trying to stand back up. It stops after walking.
Patella femoral: If your pain is in front/under your knee cap, then most likely patella femoral pain syndrome/chondromalacia patella. Best managed with exercise to strengthen your quads to improve tracking, and avoiding deep knee bending activities. Also oral or topical nsaids can be of benefit, as well as a brace. Injection of cortisone or hyaluronic acid also very popular. If all else fails, then scope. ...Read more

Does kinesio tape help if you have a herniated disk in the lower back? Why does my knee hurt and burn just as much as my back?
Very little evidence: Kinesio tape has been shown to have very little or trivial benefit in treating musculoskeletal sports injuries, and there's less evidence to support using it in back injuries. Sciatica, or radicular back pain, will cause pain away from the injury which can be quite severe. The good news is that sciatica is very treatable and your back and leg pain should both resolve. ...Read more
Why does my knee hurt under knee cap during and after running or standing/walking for a long time and i'd have to pop it all the time bc it locks?
PTF: Or patella-femoral syndrome is what it sounds like. Hard to say for sure without a phys exam, but could be. It has to do with tracking of the knee cap through the femoral grooves (at the top of the knee). This can be fixed with a brace, but more importantly quad strengthening to correct the "over-pull" of one quad side verse the other. Try the exercises attached while waiting to get pt prescriptio. ...Read more
