Hello, can si joint dysfunction affect the knee? Cause knee pain or swelling at the back? And I have severe pain at both hips I can hardly sleep at night. My right and left hips hurt while sleeping on my sides. And sleeping on my back si joint hurts. What
Spine: Si joint in and of itself will not commonly cause all of the se symptoms.... more likely coming from your lumbar spine.... needs an assessment dr b
Patella: Was there trauma? If not, could be from mild arthritis behind your knee cap; also could be from tight muscles, around knee (ie quadriceps, hip flexors, hamstrings) if it persists I would get evaluated by an orthopedist.

Postoperative pain: Knee pain and swelling is a normal process after knee surgery in the immediate days following. The severity does depend on what type of surgery you had. For example: recovery from a total knee arthroplasty takes months for swelling to slowly resolve. Pain typically should improve within 1-2 weeks. New onset of pain months out would be worrisome and should be evaluated by your surgeon or local ER.
This is common: The pressure of the atmosphere is lower (low pressure area), and the pressure of the knee doesn't change, so it is relatively INCREASED in the knee. It feels swollen when atmospheric pressure on it goes DOWN. Usually occurs in the context of mild arthritis/joint damage with swelling.
Pressure and temp: A few studies have shown that especially for people with arthritis and healed fractures, joint pain can change based on outside weather. We have pressure receptors that can be could be triggered when outside pressure changes -like when it rains. Temperature changes during stormy weather can also account for the pain. I wouldn't worry too much if you're having a little pain, though.
Why does my knee hurt whenever I keep it bent for a while (like sitting in a car) and even more when trying to stand back up. It stops after walking.
Patella femoral: If your pain is in front/under your knee cap, then most likely patella femoral pain syndrome/chondromalacia patella. Best managed with exercise to strengthen your quads to improve tracking, and avoiding deep knee bending activities. Also oral or topical nsaids can be of benefit, as well as a brace. Injection of cortisone or hyaluronic acid also very popular. If all else fails, then scope.

Persistent injury: Truly depends if you are describing a dislocation of the patella (kneecap) or a true dislocation between the femur and tibia. These are 2 very different injuries. Patella dislocations are somewhat common occurrences may involve a small ligament tear that allows the patella to shift laterally. Persistent problems can be from mal-alignment of the patella or cartilage injury to the patella or femur.
