Why Does My Infant Have Crysts In Her Diaper
Is it possible for a 3-4 months old infant to develop gout? Diagnosis was based on presence of urine crystals in diaper. No family history of gout.
Is it blood?: First, is it blood? Newborns especially can pass dark urine that when dried in a diaper can look like blood. Sometimes genuine blood can come from bloody vaginal discharge (normal in a newborn), or from a crack or fissure near the anus. Not sure what's going on? Go see the pediatrician for an exam. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Will rubbing a pee-soaked diaper on an infant's face and/or tongue cure him of thrush and baby acne?
Not advisable: There is much folklore surrounding the use of urine as a cure-all, but little evidence of any benefit. Urine should be sterile and not cause disease, but there are much better treatments for both oral thrush and acne. Baby acne does not need treatment and will go away on its own. Benzoyl peroxide is far more effective for treatment of adult acne. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Hi there, I'm making home-made diaper rash ointment with coconut oil, zinc oxide (25%), beeswax, and 5% v/v vitamin e. Is the amount of vitamin e safe for topical use on infants?
My infant is showing signs of dehydration. When do I call the doctor? My baby has been ill and is having fewer wet diapers than normal. I’ve tried to give her pedialyte, but she isn’t taking much of it. At what point do I need to call her pediatrician?
Call Dr. now: Signs of dehydration include fewer wet diapers, tears and saliva that is thicker than usual. Infants may become dehydrated in just a few hours. It sounds like you've done the basics-it's time to discuss the details with your doctor. It will be much easier to treat the problem early. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
With love!: Changing diapers is simple, but remember to be careful. Turning your back on an infant of any age who is on a high counter or changing table is dangerous. Lay them down, open the diaper, hold their feet/legs up with one hand while cleaning their bottoms with your other hand (and a wipe or cloth!) then, place a new diaper under them, add some barrier cream, if desired, and seal them up! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hard to say: A lump in the groin could be an enlarged inguinal lymph node, which can occur after a diaper rash or healing sore of the legs. Occassionally a testicle will retract into the inguinal canal and can be felt there. Inguinal hernias can also present this way. Best to have it checked to be certain. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
