Why Does My Hip Pop When I Do Sit Ups
Not sure: I've never had anyone complain of groin popping. Hips or knees may pop. Ligaments or tendons may pop or snap. Let me tell you that popping/snapping is not a specific symptom that indicates where the problem is or what it is. It is audible and definitely draws attention, but in the absence of other symptoms, namely pain, limitation in the range of motion, it may be nothing to worry about. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Only theories: Why joints sound like Rice Krispies Cereal (snap, crackle, and pop!) with no pain & normal functioning is a topic of debate. If your back does not hurt and you have no other symptoms like numbness, tingling, weakness, loss of bowel or bladder control, then don't worry. Try stretching before hand and "get the kinks out." first. My kiddo can twist and all her vertebra would pop sequentially! Ew! ...Read more
See your doctor: If this is not getting better with time, see your doctor. This can be a tough problem to treat, but proper diagnosis is needed for treatment suggestions. Your doctor can do that or refer you to a specialist. ...Read more
Ortho evaluation: Actual knee dislocation is often the result of significant trauma and is incapacitating. Based on that it sounds as though you are referring to recurrent patellar (kneecap) dislocation. The unstable knee cap will often relocate on its own but sometimes requires relocation by a physician. However recurrent dislocation can be debilitating and thus warrants evaluation by an orthopedic surgeon. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Some time it is hard: To do that we call it locked knee. Some it is very hard to reduce. Attempt to gently extend leg as far as possible, apply some pressure on the knee toward the outside, and then begin alternating between internal and external rotation of knee as well as flexion and extension. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Trocanteric bursitis: It's a classic symptom that happens when people lay on their side and their hip is inflamed at the trochanteric bursa (a fluid filled sac) that helps the tissues in the area move more easily. People commonly complain of waking up because of the pain. Anti-inflammatories, stretching, and alternating ice and heat compresses can help. If it doesn't improve, see your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Swelling: It would help with more information but assuming this is pain in feet while standing for long periods of the day and when you sit they still hurt suggests the possibilty of some venous insufficiency that uually is good in the morning and at the end of the day the pain is there. If you check your legs for swelling and elevate the legs , pain should be better. Please be evaluated by a physician. ...Read more
Patella femoral: If your pain is in front/under your knee cap, then most likely patella femoral pain syndrome/chondromalacia patella. Best managed with exercise to strengthen your quads to improve tracking, and avoiding deep knee bending activities. Also oral or topical nsaids can be of benefit, as well as a brace. Doctor can check: An orthopedic doctor or a sports medicine doctor can check to see why a knee would "give out" ("give out" has different meanings to different people, so one must describe the symptoms to the doctor in detail, and know what positions or motions make the knee worse or better). Sometimes there's some ligament or cartilage damage; other times it's just a sports "overuse" problem. ...Read more
Probably weak quads: People with weak quadriceps tend to have problems with knee. The quadriceps are the groups of muscle on top of the thighs. It's known that regular wearing of high-heels can weaken the quadriceps. I suggest starting quads strengthening exercise 4-5 times a week with a daily 10-15 repetitions of leg raise against 5-10 lbs weight to start. ...Read more
