I woke up my daughter up at 4 am but she has a cold. Does this effect the EEG and will i get sent home after sleep depriving my child if she has a cold?

I woke up my daughter up at 4 am but she has a cold. Does this effect the EEG and will i get sent home after sleep depriving my child if she has a cold?

It should not: Having a cold should not affect getting the eeg. I cannot speak for the policies of the facility where you are having it done...I know a cold will cancel elective surgery but should not impact an eeg. ...Read more

I think my one and a half month baby has colic. He starts crying at 11 pm every night. What can I do to comfort him?

I think my one and a half month baby has colic. He starts crying at 11 pm every night. What can I do to comfort him?

Depends on cause: Babies cry for a reason. Some babies respond to pressure (swaddling), others to motion (swings, rides in the car), some to digestive aids (gas drops, ginger, fennel), some to formula change (to something hydrolized) or to maternal diet change (removing dairy or gassy food like broccoli and beans from mom's diet). Some, for whom you find no cause, respond to homeopathic colic remedies. Try it all. ...Read more

My 16 month will not sleep at night she not sick no fever. It been going on for five night what can I do for her?

You still need to : have her pediatrician assure you she's healthy. If so, at a consistent bedtime, read, rock, brush her teeth after the last feed. Put her to bed in her own room drowsy, but awake, to learn to self-calm to sleep without bottle or pacifier. Ignore night-waking. It will first increase, then stop. See graded ignoring tips on healthychildren.org if you can't consistently refrain from entering her room. ...Read more

Nasal allergy?: It is impossible to see for sure what may be the cause but I suspect that allergy likely places a role. If you have access to nasal steroid spray, give this a try. I presume that you don't have access to an allergist and your family doctor has not been able to offer any help. ...Read more

I have a 7 month old and he just will not sleep during the day, he won't nap at all he just sleeps at night , why is that ?

Healthy 6-9 -month : old babies sleep 14 hrs./24 hours, an avg. of 11 hrs./night & 2-3 naps/day. Learned behaviors start at 6 mos. I have an appointment in the morning with my family doctor because my pulse is so high. It goes up more at night when I walk. Will he admit?

I would predict not: My prediction is based largely on your age. You may have PSVT (paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia) and some testing may need to be done. It is usually not linked to serious underlying heart disease nor is it life-threatening. More often unpredictable tachycardia is linked to associated heart disease in older people. I believe likely safe to pursue as out-patient in you. Good wishes:) ...Read more
