Pleuritic chest pain: The pain is either from strain to the muscles between the ribs due to the coughing, or it is pleuritic, meaning that the linings around the lung are irritated and when you take a deep breath the layers scrape against each other and create pain. Suggest that you go back to the doctor and be examined and perhaps have an imaging study to be sure nothing serious has occurred. Hope all will be normal. ...Read more

Stridor: Is closing off of the trachea and not the bronchi. If this is so there is throat inflammation. You say you are on singular and advair, any bronchodilator? The chest pain is either from like a tendonitis of the intercostals or a real pleurisy. Get examined better, make sure there is no infection like croup or even pertussis, and have the inflammation treated, by steroid if necessary. ...Read more

Pleuritic pain: Pain that had characteristics like those you mentionned is called pleuritic pain. The pleura is the lining if the lung. It has nerve endings that are irritated with inflammation.
