Why Does My Calf Hurt When I Run
I am 33 and suffer from lower leg pain also my lower leg is very thin . While running there is slight pain in the center of calf bone.
I am having b/l lower leg pain since nearly 2 years. .Increased after running , pain is more for 2 or 3days after activity, tender distal medial tibia?
?shin splints: If the discomfort is not in the knees but in the lower legs below the knee, these may be shin splints due to overuse and muscle irritation especially brought on by running. Try reducing your running, ice the legs and , if you can take them, nsaids like Ibuprofen or Naproxen may help. I am experiencing knee pain, lower leg pain and knee stiffness. The following also describes me: Excessive running. What should I do?
Runs w knee/leg pain: May be tendonitis, IT band ( from hip to knee), patella mal-alignment,patellofemoral syndrome, shin splits / stress fracture. Would check for patella alignment,meniscus, flat feet, check shoes that they are not worn, consider kinesiotape on knees, shins, ice, rest. What are likely causes of mild/moderate knee/lower leg pain only present when running, no swell/tenderness, pain changes spots, pain stops after run?
Shin splints likely: Make sure you are wearing a reasonable running shoe that fits well. A sudden increase in distance and/or running intensity can harken shin splints which is really just an overuse injury. The treatment is to decrease your intensity/distance akin to a dimmer switch to just below the threshold where symptoms develop.
