Why Does It Feel Like My Head Is Rushing
Head feeling odd?: Please send another question to healthtap, with some details to describe your discomfort. Do you mean that you feel too much blood going to your head, or do you feel light-headed as if not enough blood is getting up there (may occur with a bit of dizziness and the vision graying out and then coming back)? New illnesses with fevers often cause such head sensations. Send us another question! Thanks.See 1 more doctor answer
Because it is: When you lay down, 500-1000ml of blood volume which had previously been stored in the legs is released from the pull of gravity and can contribute to the perfusion pressures of the head and brain, and gravity is no longer decreasing the pressure of blood rising to the head. The brain rapidly compensates for this but the facial vessels much less rapidly so you can get a transient flushing.
Vertigo - BPPV: If you have the sensation of the room spinning when you lie back, get up, or move your head suddenly, it sounds like you may have benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. There are many other causes of vertigo, and your provider can perform a simple maneuver in his office to see if you indeed have bbpv. Bppv is caused by an inner ear condition which is usually easily corrected.
Tension headache: It is one of many different kind of headache it it is severe and persistent see a doctor, preferably a neurologist for proper evaluation and treatment. Try to relax, use heat on the back of the head and neck,

Postural hypotension: If this happens when you stand up it might be from low blood pressure where the blood doesn't get sufficient supply to the brain and it can cause you to pass out. Blood pressure is a vital sign and is thus very important. See your md and get a diagnosis. You wouldn't want to fall and hurt yourself from this condition!
