My son who is 7 yrs old has been running a high fever but nothing else is wrong what do u think it is?

My son who is 7 yrs old has been running a high fever but nothing else is wrong what do u think it is?

Many possibilities: Statistically, the most common cause of fever in a kid will be a viral infection. Realistically, the only way to identify the fever's source is for the kid to have an evaluation by a physician. If the kid acts normally, engaging in play & taking fluids & feeds well you can monitor the issue at home. If this changes an evaluation could be planned.

My boy (2 yrs old) is running a high fever 39.6 degree, there is no signs from outside, what should I do?

Depends: Fever, by itself, is rarely harmful. What you need to be concerned about is: what is causing the fever. A temp of 39.6 could be from a cold or could be from meningitis. If your child is acting "sick" then you should call your doctor for further advice. If he is running around and acting fine without any other symptoms, then it should be safe to just monitor her for a day or two.

Okay I had a UTI sunday was running a high fever of 104.7 and my fever bounces from 102, 103, to 100. And I am still running a low fever today of 101?

So: Your immune system is likely fighting some viral or bacterial infection in your body. Your body usually will let you know where it is. The exception would be hidden cancer or autoimmune condition, need to be evaluated and treated for fever now. Good luck.

Why is my daughter running a high fever and has been on an antibiotic for 4 days now?

Why is my daughter running a high fever and has been on an antibiotic for 4 days now?

Depends: If her fevers go away with meds and she otherwise looks ok, it is probably viral. Viral infections do not go away with antibiotics at all. They just have to "run it's course". If fever is not decreasing by day five or if your child looks bad even when not having a fever, check with your doctor. There are other things that could be causing it as well.

4 hours after my long run yesterday, and after a bath, I started having convulsive chills with high fever which lasted through the night. Why?

Better now?: You could have overdone it. Could be toxic metabolic or bacteremia. Drink fluids like Gatorade or juices after a long run. If better today fine. If not and still having fevers, see a doc. Having done a long run sounds like you are generally healthy. If you do these once in a blue moon you are likely to have such phenomena. Be careful dieting at the same time. Urine rust colored?

If your heart rate goes 120 and up per min can it cause a high fever? Is it weird that I'm still running a high fever and it been a month

If your heart rate goes 120 and up per min can it cause a high fever? Is it weird that I'm still running a high fever and it been a month

Other way around: Typically high fever causes fast heart rate. The rule of thumb is 10 beats/min per degree Fahrenheit of fever. A fever lasting more than a month should definitely prompt evaluation.

My daughter keeps running a high fever every 4 months and her white blood count goes up from 17 to 26 and everything on the out side looks good.?

Persistent fever: Besides re-evaluation during the bouts of of fever, please ask her doctor to perform a urinalysis, urine culture, blood culture. Tests for ebv virus and lyme disease. If the fever comes monthly instead of every 4 months, ask her pediatrician to rule out pfapa.

Days ago I woke up to find my healthy 4 month old very lethargy, and running a high fever?

See your doctor: A four month old infant may not give you many clues as to why they are sick. If they are running a fever and lethargic as you indicate, they need to be seen as soon as possible.

What could be causing me to run a really high fever, loss of appetite, nausea, achy all over? I've been like this for a week now.

What could be causing me to run a really high fever, loss of appetite, nausea, achy all over? I've been like this for a week now.

Influenza?: Symptoms sound typical of flu—fever, generalized aches & pains, lack of energy, loss of appetite. Good new is that it should be over soon (after a week); if not, or getting worse, may have bacterial infection as well, in which case, see doc. Meanwhile, tylenol (acetaminophen) or NSAID for fever & aches, rest, fluids. Otc theraflu has ingredients that cover several symptoms. Get flu shot this sept/oct.

My 6 year had been to the doctor twice and he had been on antibodies for 6 days and still running a high fever why does he still have a fever?

Take time: Your child has had infection from either virus or bacteria. Antibiotic need some time to kill the bacteria. If it is viral infection, it also take time for the body to fight with it.

What to do about my daughters high fever she is still drinking milk but is running a high fever. She's 13 months took her to doctor last night?

What to do about my daughters high fever she is still drinking milk but is running a high fever. She's 13 months took her to doctor last night?

Good news/bad news: The good news is you had your daughter seen & they didn't find a terrible problem. The bad news is that many viral illnesses will have fever as part of their natural course & meds may not alter the fever. The fever is not destructive, it is a sign the body recognizes illness & speeds up it's metabolism to fight it. I would concentrate more on assuring good fluid intake to avoid dehydration.

Pain from the left mid section of back running up to head, severe headaches, fever, high bp?

Pain from the left mid section of back running up to head, severe headaches, fever, high bp?

Consult a physician: Because chest pain can be very atypical and present different ways and can present a variety of different illnesses that could potentially be serious I recommend a consultation with a physician. A detailed history and physical examination will have to determine what is the underlying cause of your symptoms.

Can a patient that has brain stem swelling run a high fever and will there be any long term problems from this?

Can a patient that has brain stem swelling run a high fever and will there be any long term problems from this?

Very complicated.: This is a situation which cannot be answered in a few words. There are many potential complications, infectious and otherwise, in a patient with brain swelling (which may not be limited to the brain stem). This sounds like a potentially life-threatening situation and discussing it with the patient, their doctor, or the family would be best. Hope they are better soon.

I tested positive for d dimer blood test but my tc showed nothing so I got sent home from ER now I'm running a high fever with intense back pain?

I tested positive for d dimer blood test but my tc showed nothing so I got sent home from ER now I'm running a high fever with intense back pain?

D-dimer: Is a rather nonspecific test and it helps mostly when is negative ruling out acute thromboembolism. In your case the test failed to rule it out and that's why you underwent CT angio. With your symptoms, you should still seek medical attention trying to find out a source that at this time and with limited information seems to be likely infectious, among others. Hope it helps.

My nephew have infection in tonsillitis a high fever running all day his doctor gave him amox for infection but did not give him anything for fever, ?

Try OTC: He can take over the counter generic tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen for the fever. Either one will also help the throat pain. If the swelling in the throat gets bad and he can't swallow properly, especially if he starts drooling, he should be seen at an er.

Is it bad to be throwing up bile and running a high fever? The puke is a green color and not sure how high the fever is but she is really hot to touch and looks a little pale and can't get up unless she threws up everywhere can't eat or drink anything

Hello,: Hello, yes, these are worrisome symptoms. Don't know if the person is a child or an adult. With combination of green emesis, inability to eat or drink, possible high fever, and inability to get up - recommend that the person is treated at the emergency room. Take care.
