Why Does A Myelagram Cause Headaches And How Long Does This Last
CSF leak: Like an lp, a myelogram involves introducing a needle into the fluid-filled sac that contains the spinal cord. If the hole created by the needle does not close, spinal fluid can leak out and cause a headache that is worse with standing and better with lying down. If this describes your headache, try lots of fluids and caffeine. If this fails, a procedure called a blood patch can plug the hole. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
A myelogram is a common diagnostic study that most patients tolerate well. The physician will place you on a flouroscopy table, prep your lower back, inject a local anesthetic, place a needle in your back, inject dye, remove the needle, place a bandaid and summon the radiology tech to take x-rays. I had a severe reaction to the contrast dye used in a myelogram.I am having hallucinations and brain zap headaches & seizures. Will they ever stop?
See your doctor: You should discuss your side effects with the doctor who ordered the procedure and the radiologist. They may have suggestions for you to reduce the symptoms. Try to rest. A short term trial of antipsychotic medication may help until the symptoms resolve. I see that you are also on depakote. You may need to have your dose increased. ...Read more
I have had a very bad headache and terrible neck ache for three days since my myelogram . I have been lying flat on my back, taking tylenol (acetaminophen) , etc. .?
About 2 hours: Most myelograms are performed in a radiology facility by a radiologist trained in interventional procedures. The procedure may involve a tilting radiology table, in order to investigate the flow of the injected dye. This procedure often includes a post-myelogram ct scan, allowing the radiologist to obtain information similar to that of a MRI scan. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Varies, a few hours: It depends on your body size, the space between the spinal bones (vertebrae), but usually once the needle is in and spinal fluid flows, it is fairly quick. Dye is injected and the needle removed. The table is tilted to make the dye move around and pictures taken. Then a ct is typically fast (10 minutes). Observation is about an hour after that. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Hv bronchitis 8 wks developed into sinusitis. Headache + press behind eyes. How long will this last? Does it cause any vision loss? Tkg.Tylenol (acetaminophen) pain
Aggressive treatment: 8 weeks of bronchitis and now sinusitis tells me that you have upper and lower respiratory systems infected or inflamed. Ancillary treatments are inhalers, decongestants , maybe steroids and lots of hydration. Vision loss is rare . Please see your physician ASAP. ...Read more
I've had 2 recent ear surgeries. Im having pain from my temple area down into my jaw. Dr said its irritation of the temporal muscle how long will this last? Does this usually cause headaches?
Yes: Unfortunately, area near ear canals into jaw is small w nerves running thru it. So w surgery there is local swelling, compression, irritation, and pain. This is separate from pain your md is describing, which also happens. It is b/c of how your head ; mouth needed to be in position for the surgeries (unconscious for you, but it happened to the muscles). Lasts diff amount for all. U r on right meds. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Ruptured ovarian cyst. Does it cause bloating, weight gain, headache and dizziness? How long do the the symptoms last? Does it cause abdominal spasm
Not sure one can: pin the symptoms on ruptured ovarian cyst, but pregnancy will cause those symptoms. Check the pregnancy test. If negative, check it again in 1 week. Unlikely: By myelogram I am assuming you mean that contrast was injected into your spine prior to obtaining spinal x-rays and/or ct. Since the contrast should not have any direct effect on your spinal nerves, the myelogram would be unlikely to cause a miscarriage. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Diabetes & Headache?: Why mixing the two issues. Diabetes rarely sudden, develops over time, usually decades, only typically/eventually "diagnosed" & called "start", "borderline", etc. Both DM & headaches=unhealthy, dysfunctional behaviors; better to focus on/understand issues involved, what drives & how to optimally resolve & prevent recurrence. Unfortunately, such focus & high quality assistance difficult to find. ...Read more
Post concussive : After a concussion it is not unusual to have some persistent headache, dizziness, vertigo or general malaise. So long as the symptoms are getting better slowly, I wouldn't worry too much. If increased activity worsens the symptoms, slow down and see if doing a little less helps improve your symptoms. It may take 4-6 weeks to get back to normal. If you are getting worse, go see your doctor!! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
