Chronic top of foot pain, MRI negative, dr doesn't seem to know but wants me to do more pt. This hasn't helped and it's costly. Second opinion?

Possible neuritis: There are not many structures on the top of the foot other than skin, fat, tendons, few small muscles ligaments and the underlying joints and bones. I have top of foot pain that worsens with exercise. Scheduled soon for mri. Will this test show tendonitis even if it has begun to heal?

Probably: Mri is excellent for evaluating the tendons of the body. Even mild abnormalities are usually visible. Normally, the tendons look black and have smooth contours. Abnormal tendons may be thick or may have fluid in or around them. This shows up very well on an mri. The MRI also gets a very good look at bones, cartilage and ligaments, so there is a good chance of finding your problem. ...Read more
