Why Do The Ama And Cdc Refuse To Recognize Treatments For Lymes Disease
Aside from Lyme itself, do the long-term and sometimes extreme treatment protocols by "Lyme literate mds" for tick-borne illness have any truth? They have you believe all humans in the E USA need combitorial antibiotics/antiprotozoals to find health
Beware of quacks: The problem with Lyme disease is that there is a whole other 'culture' of treating Lyme that is well outside of established medical principles. There's actually a case I know of where the patient DIED because of some 'quack' treatment by one of these Lyme doctors. I suggest you seek out a board certified Infectious Disease doctor who can offer you real options that actually work and restore health ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What determines the lifespan of antibodies? For example, why do we need to revaccinate pets for rabies yearly?
Hard to tell: It depends on the situation and the nature of the disease and most importantly on the patient himself. Some patients will appreciate knowing this kind of information, whereas others may react to it in a way the physician will not expect, so it really involves knowing your patient well before you share this kind of info. ...Read more
Do oncologists know how to test for suspected paraneoplastic autoimmune issues? I can't find neurologist that knows which ab's to look for.
High deductible. Limited coverage of outpatient care. Would really help to know what tests, evaluations are required to diagnose autoimmune diseases and follow it after treatment.?
If the Gerson therapy can cure all cancers and many illnesses. Why does the primary health care system exclude it?
Beware false claims: If a treatment is based on fake science, it is called fake medicine, which would be uselesss in the case of caring for minor illnesses (such as a common cold), and outright dangerous in the case of serious or deadly diseases (such as cancer). Unfortunately, in our world, serious false claims sometimes come from a doctor, a scientist, or even a president (for example, global warming truly is real). ...Read more
How to get a non-fda research test for infectious diseases with little to no involvement from m.D.? Right person to ask for this? Educated guess?
What do patients think of radiation exposure in medicine, for diagnostics and treatment? Do patients get scared?
No if informed: If patients are informed properly , they will not 'get scared'. First the amount of radiation exposure in diagnostic test is negligible you get more by going to beach. During treatment precise , focused dose will be given with out damage to surrounding tissue, equipment also getting advanced. ...Read more
What do m.D.'s want to hear/know in order to establish that a non-fda test is needed.3 years and continue to neglect preventative care.Low immune ect?
Ask and explain: I'm not sure why you are having trouble finding a doctor to order this test. Realize that if the test is not fda-approved your insurance will probably not cover it but as long as you are willing to pay for the test i see no good reason why a caring doctor would not order it as long as there is science to support the validity of the test. If your doc won't order it find a doc willing to do so! ...Read more

Dietary fat advice for cancer prevention is similar to heart disease prevention. So why don't people follow it?
Help for someone that is diagnosed with cancer (oversea) if someone overseas is diagnosed with cancer, and they would like to come to the united states for treatment.
Are there any help that they can get from organizations for free ?
What : What kind of cancer? What country are they in? I have to be honest this will be very difficult since there are so many us citizens that do not have insurance and can't pay for treatment that find it hard to get adequate care/financial help here in the us. I suggest contacting large teaching hospitals in major cities and ask for guidance on this issue. Any other input from doctors on avvo is appreciated. Thanks. Good luck. ...Read more
Why is the topic of chronic Lyme disease so controversial and do all infectious disease doctors specialize in Lyme disease treatment?
See below: Most infectious disease docs follow the guidelines of the idsa ; are either unaware of or willfully ignore a large body of sound science that proves without question that lyme infection can persist after what they consider to be adequate treatment.See http://bit.Ly/1px4fnq ; http://bit.Ly/1ffxjxl ; http://www.Lymeinfo.Net/lymefiles.Html ; http://bit.Ly/qcegra ; http://bit.Ly/orugxl for details. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
What is being done with Lyme disease? I am making a website to aware people of Lyme disease and need to know what is being done with Lyme disease.
There : There is a lot of heated controversy surrounding the diagnosis and treatment of lyme disease. Two organizations, the infectious disease society of america and the international lyme and associated diseases society have published treatment guidelines that are quite different in their view of this illness. Ilads supports the validity of chronic lyme disease as a real and common occurred that should be treated with antibiotics and supportive therapies until symptoms resolve, and that other tick born infections should be considered and tested for in the patient who does not recover with adequate treatment of the lyme infection. Idsa does not acknowledge the existence of chronic lyme disease and proposes a treatment of 3-4 weeks with doxycycline. If the patient continues to have symptoms following this treatment, ongoing antibiotics are not recommended and the symptoms are attributed to a newly proposed "syndrome" called "post lyme disease syndrome" which is basically a psychosomatic or inflammatory response and should be treated with antidepressants, anti-inflammatory drugs or pain medications, but not antibiotics. www.ilads.org can give you more information on this from the perspective of treating chronic lyme disease and this website will give you the idsa perspective: www.Idsociety.Org/lyme/ some good patient and family oriented information can be found at www.Lymedisease.Org. Good luck with your endeavor. Dr. Tedde rinker los altos, ca. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is there a specific way for testing adults with adhd? I know some doctors, psychologists, and psychiatristsdon't take insurance for tests that involve extensive work ups. What's the basic test and what could people avoid so they save money?
Neuropsych testing: Since there is no one test that is always sensitive, it can be misleading to see claims that a specific test can or cannot rule out adhd. Carefull history, current and retrospective inventories of symptoms and combinations and patterns on neuropsychological tesing is your best bet if you want to be certain about a diagnosis that is presumed lifelong and has lots of possible comorbid problems. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
