Why Do Student Nurses Tend To Get Sick On Pediatric Rotation
Why do social worker/child protective service people need to know my grades and ho well I do in school?
Cause it'll help you: If urnin cps, then your parent(s) have been deemed unfit to care for u. Hopefully their behavior will change. In meantime, cps/soc worker will take on a parental role, which means they'll 'meddle' in ur personal life, because they care. That can feel intrusive. I hope u can either return to ur parents, be adopted...We all get bad breaks in life, sounds like urs came early. I feel 4 u. Good luck. ...Read more
Why do some teenage kids get picked on so much? Aren't schools suppose to have zero tolerance for bullies?
An ongoing problem: There will always be those who bully and those who are bullied. Unfortunately, the school teachers cannot see every activity. It is up to all of us (parents, teachers, doctors, other children) to help change the behavior. It will take time. Yes, zero tolerance may be a good start, but it will take a lot of work to get there. ...Read more
If I am going on medicare in 2 years, should I start seeing doctors now so i can get in their practices if they refuse seeing medicare patients?
Change: Under new health law you should expect a lot of changes and probably limited access due to the change in patient physician ratio and drop in reimbursement. Older physicians will retire, when supply will go down due to the unbearable financial burden for future doctors. All country is looking for answer to your question. ...Read more

Do you have to practise on live animals in medical schools. Or do you practise on cadavers/mannequins.I want to go to med school so thought of asking.
Why do you ask?: Before you accept what you read on websites that bash scientific medicine, please stop and think. Much of the daily practice of primary care involves emotional problems, life situations, and the health of the mind. Society charges physicians with detecting, preventing and treating cancer, heart disease, and so forth. Sadly, someone mixing medical practice and spirituality is usually a charlatan. ...Read more

This years we practice in hospitals and I meet a lot of patients ..
So how can protect myself.
Universal precaution: They should be providing lots of education on universal precautions in your medical training. Wash hands with soap and water, wear gloves when examining patients, put on mask/eye protection/gown if splash of blood or bodily fluids is likely, follow any "isolation" rules for patient, and discard all waste/needles appropriately. Because they do: Most college students engage in what's called volitional sleep deprivation, i.e. They do not give themselves enough sleep during the week: study late into the night, wake up early for lectures, work parttime in the evenings, etc.. Thus, on weekends, they catch up on their sleep debt accumulated throughout the work/study week. ...Read more
How qualified are nurse practitioners? I see an fnp when i go into docs for illness etc. I'm always nervous they will miss something or get it wrong.
Good question: Very politically charged question. Certainly depends on who you ask. Fnps have formalized training and certification testing. If you feel uncomfortable in a patient/provider situation you should consider finding someone else. We still have the freedom to chose for now. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Go to student center to work out. Always sweaty equipment after the dudes use it. Can I get sick?
Possible, unlikely: You should wipe down the equipment with a cleaner before you use it. The gym should have it around somewhere. Otherwise ask the staff. It's a shame the other people don't have enough sense to wipe down the equipment after using it - that's just bad manners. But you should wipe it down in case they may have had a skin infection. However, it's unlikely you would catch something. ...Read more
I'm in college, and have my sights set on med school, but i'm interested in research. Do i need to do an md/phd to do med research? Pros/cons? Thanks!
depends on interests: What career path is primarily answered by what you believe your primary interest is. If you are primarily interested in treating patients, and doing some research, you can do that with an M.D. Clinical trials are worthwhile and rewarding in practice. If you want to do medical research full time, i believe the M.D./pH.D. Is the best option. A long path, but best of both worlds. Good luck! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Does 5-9 hours gymnastics stunted children growth? My children loves gymnastics but I am afraid to send them to more intensive training. They currently do 1-2 hours/week only.
Gymnastics: it is not necessarily the number of hours per week spent doing gymnastics. Issues with growth revolves around less than adequate nutrition intake during the optimal periods of childhood growth, while performing gymnastics. Adequate caloric intake, of healthy foods, is of utmost importance. A discussion with your pediatrician, or HealthTap prime consult, can help lay out more instructions for you. ...Read more

Individual nature: You and your classmates have your own individual feelings about school and grades. Congratulations on your hard work and good grades, despite adhd! that is to your credit. Some of your classmates may be more interested in social and other activities than in studies. Surround yourself with others who are willing to work for success like you are.
